Ideas for an 80's themed party?!

Question: Ideas for an 80's themed party!?
Okay so my birthday is in SEPTEMBER!. I know it might seem like it's a little early to start planning for it, but I had the brilliant idea today and my mom said that we would have to start planning now!.
AAANYWAYS, I'm a young teenage girl and I LOOOVE all things 80's!. So I want my birthday party to be 80's inspired!.
Here are my ideas so far --
Once you entered my house, we'd have a "portal" in the foyer that blocks your view of everything past the door!. You'd have to step through it and then you'd see everything else!.
You have to dress up in 80's style!.
80's music! My uncle has a whole library of it!.
80's movies!? O:
80's decorations!.

Maybe it would be based on like, an 80's highschool prom!. That'd be pretty nifty!.
Maybe we could go roller skating!.
I'm usually pretty creative with things like this, but ideas would be LOVELY!. I would really appreciate any input you can give me!.
The party will probably involve boys AND girls, so please try not to bias it to only one gender's interests!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

GREAT IDEA! So much fun and its totally okay to plan early! I started looking at Halloween costumes yesturday haha!. Play songs like Madonna's, Michaels Jackson, Billy Idol, Duran Duran, Cyndi Lauper, and Tiffany!.

pop rocks, bright colors, twister, hang old records from the ceiling, lava lamps, bean bags, pacman, rubix cubes, snap bracelets, anything really cheezy haha!.

Go to a party store, they usually have 80's theme decorations and such!. Have 80's games in one section, music in another, play 80's movies in one closed off room!. like pretty in pink, breakfast club, ferris beullers day off, st!. elmos fire!.!.!.you can also make your cake fun like a giant piece of 80's memorobilia! like a giant rubix cube, record, stuff like that!.

also have a best dressed award! give out fun prizes like that!. Best dressed, best side pony-tale, best moon walk, twister master!.!.!.people love that!Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you have short brown hair go for the Pat Benatar look!. It was wildly popular in the '80s!.
A roller skating party would be a fantastic idea!.
LOL, wish I was invited!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Cool party idea! You can ask guests to dress up like their favorite 80's tv star to make it a little more fun!. also, you must have RC Cola, Tab soda and sushi - all very popular in the 80's!. Your hair will look super cute Pat Benatar style but if it's longer than Pat's, you should put one side of your hair up in a cute comb clip!.
Good Luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

love the eighties, it was a great decade!. Party favors for girls--Aqua Hairspray and plastic neon jewelry!.

for guys: wristbands, head bands and bandanas and a tape!.(for his boom box)

In the eighties I loved:
tv: Dallas, Dukes of Hazzard, Designing Women, The Cosby Show, Eight is Enough, the A-Team, the Smurfs, Family Ties
music: Duran Duran, the Bangles,George Michael, Wham!, Boy George, Cindi Lauper, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson!.
clothes/fads: friendship beads(put on shoes)--beads(very small ones) strung on safety pins, torn t shirts for the guys, half t-shirts, sweat bands, leg warmers, clogs, neon colors,
jelly shoes(these are making a comeback I think), big big hair, short hair for girls, mini skirts, jean jackets, sunglasses worn all the time as an accessorie, big hair bows, ties, etc!.,
colored print nylons, short boots, short tight pants!.
slang: far out, valley girl talk, for sure, cool, suck face, awesome, yuppies
NOT cool or nonexistant: email, country music, bell bottoms,
hippies, DVDs, parents!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

We didn't do a lot of rollerskating, that was dying off, but that could still be fun!. If you want to do prom, then hit the thrift stores for the prom dresses!. You'll want pastel (pink or blue) and big!.

80's movies for both guys & girls:
Lost Boys (now made famous by the show Two Coreys)
Valley Girl
Teen Wolf
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Breakfast Club (girls will like this more than the guys)

Decorations: posters of the following people and decorate with rubik's cubes (they were HUGE in the 80's)
Michael Jackson (Thriller day's)
Wham
Duran Duran
Madonna
Molly Ringwald (might be a little difficult)
Corey Haim and Corey Feldman (yes they were that popular back then)
Michael J Fox
Kirk Cameron
Blondie

As far as your hair, gel it up and spike it into a mohawk and tip the ends pink!. You can go for a 80's punker look with really dark eyeliner!. Or you can go preppy by wearing (i can't believe I'm gonna admit to this) blue eyeshadow and blue mascara (ick)

Have fun!Www@FoodAQ@Com
