Im in track and need advice on this food thing?!

Question:

Im in track and need advice on this food thing?

We're having some sorta party thing and everyone has to bring food. The girls are assigned to bring a "main dish". Im not sure what sorta main dish is appropriate and could be eaten by everyone. What would be appropriate?

Answers:
Not to be too presumptious, but it seems that you don't prepare a lot of main dishes - so here is a really easy recipe that can cross as a side or a main dish, and you probably have a lot of the ingredients at your house already.

One box of tri colored pasta
One bottle of zesty Italian dressing

From here you can go anywhere. I generally always add cubed cheddar cheese, cubed pepperoni, diced pepper and onion, and olives. But I have substitued the pepperoni with chicken breast that I had grilled in Italian dressing I had left over in the freezer and grilled shrimp. I also have added pepperoncini, artichoke hearts, diced cucumber. You could leave out the meat all together and just add a ton of fresh vegetables.

Just toss it all together. It really is good!

I have a wonderful beef brisket recipe (it's kind of like a roast), but I'm not sure it that's what you're looking for. If so, add details to your question to let me know. I'd be happy to share it... it's a hit whenever I make it.

Otherwise, you could make keilbasa and kraut in a crock pot.

Just brown the keilbasa in a frying pan and put it in a crock pot. Top that with rinsed sour kraut. Add some salt, pepper and caraway seeds and pour a beer or two over it. Simmer it in the crock pot for at least 4 hours and serve.

chicken wings thier good warm or cold

It can be any kind of casserole or hotdish. You could do a lasagna or other pasta bake, a chili, a pasta salad. Things to consider: pork isnt eaten by some religions, meat isnt eaten by vegetarians, dairy and animal products not eaten by vegans, pasta has gluten which some people are allergic to. However you are going to a potluck, so there will be lots of choices to eat, and not everybody is going to eat what you bring, so just think of a favorite family recipe that is cheap, easy, and tastes good that is served in a crockpot, large tupperware bowl or a 9x13 inch pan.

I'm thinking that you and your friends are pretty healthy and in good shape, which means that you can eat lots of great things! Here are some ideas for a main dish:

1. Lasagne rolls with marinara sauce
2. Spaghetti
3. Macaroni and Cheese
4. Chicken and Wild Rice casserole
5. Enchiladas, beef or chicken
6. Tamale Pie
7. Artichoke and Green Chili Fritata
8. Rice A Roni with kielbasa, olives, and cheese
9. Meatballs in barbecue sauce with rolls
10. Fried Chicken if all else fails!

Please feel free to email me if you would like the recipes to any of the above.

what you need is something lite and filled with carbs. a simple pasta salad would be great choice for this, and is inexpensive to make a lot of it.

Small dice some celery onions and tomatoes and bell peppers. Use some bow tie or rotini pasta that you already cooked. Add Italian dressing and your good to go.
If u like it a lil more Zesty add some lime or lemon juice (not much roughly a tablespoon) a touch of sugar (maybe a tablespoon) and some garlic a clove or two.

I like to actually grate garlic on the small grater side so its more of a mush when its done being grated. This allows it to be incorporated with the salad evenly.

Are you in Track as in Team for running?

If so a pasta and protien combination would be good, lasagna with meat or a vegetable lasagna if vegetarian.
Pasta has the carb. you need for energy and the protien keeps your body from absorbing the carbs too quicly so you have a nice slow and even entry of glucose into you blood stream and your body will use it as it needs for energy, remember portion control though you do not want to over do it.
