That one might be hard to find.....here is another suggestion:
2000 Bodegas Tintoralba Crianza
or
2004 Victoria Dominio De Longaz

They are all within your budget but really awsome wines that should be worth much more!!!

Wolf Blas Cabernet from Australia - it is the best cabernet I have had in that price range in years - selld around $15-$17 where I am

Um, 1/2 case of 2-Buck-Chuck?? Ha ha

Seriously.. I love the Columbia Crest (Grand Estates) Merlots (not the Two Vines). Especially 2000, 2001, 2003 (definitely not 2002). Highly rated, and slightly under your budget.

.

Look for a Sterling Cabernet or Jordan Cabernet. You might also want to check out Fess Parker's variatals and believe it or not, Coppolla.

I like Cabs the best myself, but depending upon your taste, Merlots are great (in spite of what Myles says in "Sideways") and Pinot Noirs are as well. Dont set your bottom at 15 bucks though. Look into some Australian wines. You could find a nice Shiraz for ten bucks. Dont let the price fool ya.

Finally, dont worry about red wine with red meat and white with fish. That's all bogus. Drink what you like with what you like it with. When I lived near a Trader Joes, I'd just go down the wine aisle and grab six or seven bottles of whatever caught my eye and tried them out. Sometimes you find a stinker, but lot's of times you are pleasantly surprised.

You are going to think I am crazy but the best, most affordable Merlot I have had in a long time is Corbett Canyon and you can usually get it for under $10.

Try a Blackberry Merlot from Arbor Mist. It is affordable yet tasty, and if you don't want them to know it is Arbor Mist get a wine pitcher or an engraved or personalized label from a vineyard of your choice. Here's a couple of websites that might help you on your quest. GOOD LUCK !!!

Navarro winery has some nice reds. They are a Napa winery so may be available only in the west.

Lindeman's merlot is smooth and a good stable for the wine rack, an every day red. It is not expensive at all.

White Mouse was voted best cab last year compared with wines ten times the price.

Price may be a last minute guide to playing it safe with wines but your palate is the only real judge.
