Ideas for a rainbow birthday party?!

Question:

Ideas for a rainbow birthday party?

My daughter's fifth birthday is coming up soon and she wants it to be rainbow-themed. Since it's also her golden birthday, we want it to be extra special. I was going to include multi-colored things like skittles, rainbow jello, and rainbow sherbet. For a game, I thought it might be cute to follow rainbow clues to "find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow."

I thought these ideas were cute, but I'm wondering if I'm missing anything really awesome that might be not-so-obvious. Does anyone have any other ideas I could use?

One thing to note is that while the cousins of hers attending are all girls, she does have some little boys she's friends with that will come. So I don't want to make everything all over the top girly... for instance, everyone likes skittles.

Oh, this sounds like fun! You could play a game, like guess the color of the jello. Where you put different colors of jello in non-see through cups mouthwash cups (or something like them) with whipped cream on the top so you can't see the color of the jello inside. Every child gets one and they have to guess what color they have. Or another variation is, all the jello cups are the same color except one. Who ever gets that one, wins a prize!

And what about giving prism charms or light catchers as party favors? You know, something that catches the light and makes a rainbow. Or multi colored glow sticks or glow necklaces, if the party goes into the evening. Kids love that stuff.

Pin the pot o' gold on the rainbow? I've also done a game where everyone has to find objects (usually outside) for each color of the rainbow. That's TONS of fun and gives people time to get creative. And the boys will enjoy it just as much as the girls! The idea of having each child dress up as a color is great, too. But I'd ask them to dress in their favorite and not assign them a color.

You could incorporate leprechauns, too. And what a great time to do it! Check a local party store for left over St. Patty's Day decorations to see if anything would work. Plus it will be on sale!
Hope that helps, have fun!

I'm an event planner. Parties are my life!

Thats a fabulous cute idea, makes me wish I had a little girl so I could throw parties like that. What about rainbow coloured food, ie something for each colour of the rainbow?? Perhaps you could find rainbow themed cups or placemats. For party favours perhaps include little notepads with rainbow pictures on them. How about a craft activity involving rainbows, ie have the kids paint rainbows, or buy some plastic beads in rainbow colours and help them make rainbow bracelets

everybody should wear multicolored things

Get together with her seven best friends' moms and have each child come in a different color of the rainbow. Let each child think of something of their color to add to the festivities, like flowers or butterflies.

a birthday cake with all colors of icing

rainbow colored cake but if thats too hard to make then rainbow icing and then for the door to come in or any door where the guests can c. put rainbow colored streamers or like ribons so it would be awesome when people come in. then for drinks u could have like cheap or not cheap pop like grape, orange, red pop, or u can have like make ur own drink and they can put things in it to make each one a different color. i hope i helped!! good luck!

go to dltk.com they have a site that ppl can leave party ideas there they are great finding ideas for parties. also i would make your own invites with a rainbow on it and inside say something about looking for a rainbow come help us find the pot of gold at girls 5 th birthday party and rest of the info. prize for the most colorful rainbow outfit. play the song over the rainbow and play musical chairs to it. or look up a kids song about rainbows. make strips of papers of the colors of the rainbow enough for each kids to get 5 colors put in a bowl blindfold each kid and let them get 5 then have them make a picture using their colors see who get the prettiest rainbow. the pot of gold for the treasure hunt could be gift bags of treats for each child to take home. use different color plates and cups to get the effects of a rainbow. have a good time creating this special birthday.

maybe have a rainbow shaped cake? with a little "pot" on one side...with gold wrapped candy in it(werther's original for example) and you could frost the cake with a variety of colors

I would go with the multicolored things like skittles....all arranged in bowls on the table...with a variety of rainbow shaped things.......like a veggie platter....with the various veggies arranged to form a rainbow

great idea on following the rainbow clues...kinda like blue's clues kids will love that...how about the kids making murals of rainbows.....using macaroni that has been dyed various colors, glued onto paper?

another game could be guess how many skittles are in the jar?
