Any UNIQUE/NEW/DIFFERENT ideas for a theme for a silent auction basket?!

Question:

Any UNIQUE/NEW/DIFFERENT ideas for a theme for a silent auction basket?

I'm so tured of the gardening, wine, margarita, date night typical silent auction baskets. I need to assemble one for a fundraiser but I want to do a show stopper! Any suggestions? Thanks!!

Answers:
You have already been given some great ideas. Last year I had to put together 35 baskets for an auction and for each I wrote a little story that pulled the items together. Most of the items were donated and I had to create baskets from whatever was donated.

Example, I put a gift certificate for dry cleaning, tire rotation, and ice cream sundaes for 4, movie rentals and pizza together. The story spoke about dropping off your dry-cleaning, leaving the car to have the tires rotated and having a friend, pick you up to take you home. On the way, stopping to pick up a movie and pizza. On the way back to pick up the car, treating said friend to ice cream as a way to say thanks!

Another basket had champagne, glasses, candle lanterns and scented candles, romantic Cd's, chocolates, expensive perfume and an expensive gold bracelet. I called it the seduction basket and suggested how to use it to seduce your favorite lady.

Another included art supplies, a certificate for framing, a gift certificate for art classes,a gift certificate for a bookstore, and a framed print. I called it our culture basket and wove a story around it's contents addressing it to budding artists.

Get creative. People loved reading the little stories included with the basket. Each was written like a folded card with an appropriate picture on the front with basket title, and short story description inside.

Great way to put together things that might not otherwise create too exciting of a basket and make people think it more exciting to purchase.

The Book of Diana

a pamper yourself basket. include candles, lotions, bath salts, soaps (all same scent), a velvety soft wash cloth and bath sheet, a loofah, and a small bottle of wine

How about a games night? You could use games for different ages - some young children, some older, some family games & some adult games. Don't forget decks of cards, chips, score pads & pens, etc.

one for petowners, dog or cat specific with different toys, pet themed picture frame, fancy collar, fancy scented shampoo, brush/comb, treats.

spa, movie night, grill master(bbq sauce, cookbook, tongs, spatula, spices, beer can chicken holder, skewers,ect..), some like it hot (all kinds of hot sauces and spicy spices), children books, game night, arts and crafts, pasta, international beers

A lot of women are interested in scrap booking. Make a "Catch a Memory" basket. Tuck in a list of photo tips from a site like http://www.kodackgallery.com/phototips.... Include a photo box, disposable camera, photo album and stickers. Another idea is a "Breakfast Bonanza". Fill a basket basket with all the fixings for a delicious morning. Get a pancake mix, muffin mix, syrup, coffee, and assorted kitchen utensils. Make sure all the ingredients a the gourmet type, not the ordinary.

what every women wants.... gift certificate to dry cleaners, grocery store, favorite expensive romantic restaurant, maid service, manicure and pedicure, and gift certificate to department store all in one. Many guys would love to buy it for their wives or many women would by it for themselves.
Have a local chef give certificate for cooking lessons or for a dinner for two.
Have a local dance studio give gift certificate for salsa or rumba lessons.
Local interior decorator and home supply store certificate
Gym membership and local athletic store.
Local bed and breakfast certificate with tickets to a play or the ballet.

The key to a good gift basket is to make it complete. For example I have a friend who loves Mexican and was moving to Italy. Not a lot of good Mexican restaurants there. I put everything she would need to host a small dinner party in a large metal bin. It included:

2 bags of gourmet tortilla chips
2 jars of gourmet salsa
1 bag of beans
1 container of seasoning that I use to make chili and the recipe
1 container with my recipe for cornbread
2 containers containg the dry ingredients for churros (flour mixture & cinnamon sugar mixture)
1 gift certificate to a cheese store close to where she was moving with mapquest direction
1 gift certificate to a butcher with directions
1 bottle of tequila
1 bottle of marguerita mix
1 container or salt
8 plastic marguerita glasses
12 pack of Corona mixed in between all the other items
2 boxes of Christmas lights
2 packs each Mexican themed paper products
1 gift certificate for a website that would ship her a pinata
A whole bunch of candy
1 pack of balloons
8 sombreros
1 CD with Mariachi music
