When I have friends invited over I do an extra special cleaning. My house never looks better! I love to serve friends and family. Since everyone has such hectic lives, it's nice to be able to see them sit back, relax and enjoy fine company and food and drinks in a comfortable atmosphere. When they go home I sit back with a glass of wine and reminisce about how wonderfully the occassion went.

Generally, yes. Be sure your party is not too big until you can't cope. If it is big, then you need to get catering help for a successful party.

I give my kids parties, but I try not to have them here...not enough space. I am also usually the one who takes care of the holiday cooking as well. Now that's done here at home. That way, I don't have to go out in holiday traffic.
