Summer baby shower?!

Question:

Summer baby shower?

My sister is having a baby in Sept. and we're having her shower end of July. Any suggestions for a summer, sandbox, or luau themed shower?

Answers:
You might want to consider having the shower at a restaurant that has these type of atmosphere....most Big Cities have "summer" themed restaurants.

If you are having it in your home....I would make sure everyone has umbrellas in their "virgin" drinks!! Decorate with beach balls, surf boards (if you have any), lais ("lays" flowers that go around the neck), coconut drinking glasses (if you can find them....you could probably make them out of coconuts pretty easily, too!), Beachy music in the background (Jimmy Buffet, Beach Boys, etc.). If you have a pool in your backyard (or know someone who knows your sister and would want to host the party) have the party there!!

By the way....I have a page on my website that has SENTIMENTAL activities for the babyshower. New stuff that hasn't been played or done twenty times over!! Check it out if you like....I put the link below!

You could go to a nice park and do it there. It'll be a perfect timing- summer, you guys can surprise her. You can have a family picnic type of thing but in a baby shower way.

I think you need 2 ask her what she likes the most and just say u were just wondering but don't make it 2 weird

We had a "Birthday party" theme for my cousin's shower.... just decorate in bright colors, balloons and streamers. it works well indoors or out. We had the cake with "Happy Birthday Baby " on it. (unless you know the sex and name)
Good Luck!

go with the luau theme
light candles all over the backyard
light tourches around the yard
bbq your food
put drinks in a big tub of ice
buy laus(not sure how to spell it)and grass skirts for everyone(at the dollar store)
make tropical non-alcohlic drinks

For my relatives summer theme baby shower, they had clothes lines set up with baby clothes hanging on them. We used pink and blue clothes pins. Also had a big hammock set up and gifts were placed in it. The invitations went along with theme:

For my shower my family did fish/under the sea theme bc it was in August. It was so much fun. They had sea shells everywhere and fish decorations hanging from the tent, Teal tablecloths, and various size fish bowls filled with food and desserts.

I think a luau would be fun too..here's a link w/ some ideas:

Like most garden parties, a Luau Baby Shower Theme requires a few simple supplies. Just buy some garden torches and colorful patio lights and maybe even some Leis (a necklace usually made of flowers or leaves) for your guests to wear (Try using the flower of that month).

Put on some reggae and calypso music to really help your guests feel like they’re in the tropics.

The food you serve should also continue the Tropical Theme. Put out a platter of strawberries, passion fruit, mango and pineapple slices along with some punch. If the shower runs into lunch or dinnertime, then consider having a barbeque.

If you’re buying the invitations, look to see if you can find some with palm trees on them to help set the tone before the big day.

If your budget allows, decorate with flowers native to Africa or Hawaii. Visit your local florist shop and ask which exotic flowers they have available. They should have a catalogue with pictures and the cost. Some of the more beautiful flowers from South Africa include Orchids, Violets and those found on Silk trees.

You could have a Moroccan Theme Baby Shower like Britney Spears and welcome guests by walking them on a path of rose petals into a tent made of bamboo. Britney and her guests then had a feast of different dishes including Tagine. Tagine is a stew usually containing a mixture of vegetables, poultry or lamb, often with the addition of fruit. It has a thick rich spicy sauce which is thickened due to the long cooking process and is generally served with bread, couscous or rice. Tagine refers both to the cooking pot as well as a stew cooked in it.

Go to the dollar store, I've seen alot of cute cheap stuff with palm trees on it.
