Question: I need party ideas for my husband who just became a U!.S!. citizen!.!.!.!?
My husband FINALLY, after 7 1/2 years, became a citizen!. He's the first one in his family to get there!. I want to have a suprise party for him, and would like some ideas!. I have American flags, and stuff like that, but what else can I do, to make it more memorable, and unique!? Thanks!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

What a nice idea! My husband's citizenship also took a long time and lots of paperwork :P

Ask your friends to save cardboard toilet paper and paper towel tubes!. Fill them with candy and wrap them with silver wrapping paper!. Add some flag decals and colored bands around the ends to make them look like firecrackers!.

Sparklers on the cake, of course!

Search the Internet for pictures of old-fashioned postcards of American landmarks!. Print them out and scatter them on tables and walls as decorations!.

Use outdoor lighting to create a celebratory mood!. Martha Stewart has a couple of Christmas light ideas that would work for your party!. See photos "3 of 8" and "4 of 8":

Post a map of the country and provide stickers and markers for guests to indicate their favorite destination or where they'd like to take a vacation!.

Serve "surf and turf" (fish and steak), an impressive, special-occasion meal which is symbolic of our coasts and our heartland!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would do a cook out!. I would have hot dogs, hamburgers, Apple pie, , deviled eggs--you know all the things that are suppose to be American!.
Have some music and games to play that you remeber as a child!. Sack races, throwing the horse shoe, etc!

I would do individual cupcakes that make up a flag or a sheet cake with the colors of the flag!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would put pictures and memorabalia on display from where he is from to the present day so he can (and you) be proud of where he has come from to where he is!. CONGRATULATIONS!Www@FoodAQ@Com
