Answers:
Have a theme to tie everything together...either beach or luau seems to be really popular. or you can try a nautical theme. a dj may not be necessary, but rent or borrow a really good sound system and make a really good ipod party shuffle. as party favors you can give your guests flip flops (with ur bday printed somewhere on them) and or cool beack towels that coordinate with your party colors or theme. have hors deurves and cold platters that tie in with whatever theme you choose. have a signature drink (alcoholic or non alcoholic depending on your crowd). look up summer drinks on a website like tgifridays to get drink recipes

Do the caraziest things u csn imagine of doing, if u have permition!!!!!!!!!!
My suggestion is that u have super cool music, a lot of reggaeton, and that it would last until night, that u have a lot of lights of many different colors, and have a lot of fun!!!!!!!!!!!
Happy birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

I have a few suggestions that will make your party just as much a specacle as a celebration.

First off, you need frozen drinks. Even if you do not drink, some non-alcoholic daquiries or pina coladas would really set the mood. Down here in Houston, the frozen drinks of choice are Margaritas and Hurricanes. A blender will suffice, but if you can afford to rent a daquiri machine, that would be perfect!

Second, make the lighting around your patio and pool area soft and glowing. Tiki torches will be great for the pool area and throughout the back yard. Go to your local party supply and look for paper Chinese lanterns in various colors (battery operated).

Next is a special treatment for the pool. If you are having a pool party where everyone will be swimming, you need to wait on this til after dark. Go to your local sporting goods store. There you will find fishing bobbers/corks made of clear plastic with a little light in them. These are used by fishermen for night fishing. They usually come in various colors and only cost $2 or $3 each. Buy a dozen or so of them. What you will do is tie these off to about 3 or 4 feet of string (depending on how deep your pool is) then tie the other end to a weight heavy enough to sink the bobber. Keep your pool light turned off. The result is a dozen colorful globes that make your pool glow!

The final touch is your choice of decorations. If you want to really PARTY, decorate in streamers and colorful holiday lights. If you want an elegant party, decorate in flower clusters hung around posts and polls.

Hopefully, these ideas will help.

get a good DJ music is very important

get water toys, guns, balls, frisbees...etc

get some great cocktails, snacks and finger foods

water games in the pool

Skinny Dip

everybody swims

Clothing Optional

or in their Underwear

turn down the bright lights and add some colored ones. always have jimmy buffet music playing
