$10 dinner party, what are you cooking?!

Question:

$10 dinner party, what are you cooking?

You have invited 4 friends over for dinner, but the pantry is bare and there is nothing in the fridge. You only have $10 to your name, whats for dinner?

Answers:
go to walmart or other grocery store. get wheat pasta--two boxes--bowties and rotini shapes (varied shaped make nice inexpensive splash)--each box is around $1.00, buy a jar of Pesto--you can find this next to the spaghetti jars, this is about $2.00, get a few mushrooms and 1 green pepper, this should be about $3.00, then a loaf of french bread for $1-2 depending on your store. If you have enough for a little parmasian cheese, that would be nice but not necessary. There are also a lot of cheep bottles of wine for around $3/bottle depending on how much you have spent on the other stuff (I just did this meal for 5 and got all the stuff at walmart and was just slightly over $10 b/c I had to buy cheese).

The pesto in the jar is good tasting and it makes the dish very easy to make, then just cut up the pepper and mushrooms and add to the dish.

When you have to do something cheap, pasta is good, but most people think spaghetti and red sauce, so this brings a nice twist to the ordinary and can still be very elegant.

Good luck and enjoy your evening!

Spaghetti night! The noodles are cheap, the sauce costs only a few bucks, and you can even add some veggies and herbs to it and keep it under budget. As for the wine. Too bad. they'll drink tapwater and like it!

Good luck!
