What else can I eat with oysters at an oyster roast?!

Question:

What else can I eat with oysters at an oyster roast?

I'm having an oyster roast in a couple of days for my birthday, and I was wondering what other foods I can have besides oysters. Surely nobody will get full on oysters. What other foods go well with oysters?

Answers:
well you don't want anything heavy or that is going to take away from the oysters,I'm thinking a nice potato or cucumber salad,a good tossed salad with all the trimmings like a salad bar ,stuff you can make ahead and just leave out to serve yourself and not need attention but maybe to be kept cold so you can just set it over ice. chips ,dips, and salsa cheese cubes, sliced turky and ham incase someone doesnt want oysters and they can put them on their salad if they want.make it easy anyway happy birthday have fun! can i come??? lol

If you use the typical staples that compliment fish, then squash, corn, and red potatoes are sure bets.

shrimp, dip, fries...

really any finger foods will work.

what about some more and different types of shell seafood
clams-there several different types from the largest and toughest to the smallest and most tender
cherry stone
top necks
little necks
pasta necks
cockles
then what about mussels-two different types
black mussels-I prefer
New Zea land green lip mussels-larger and softer

Fresh corn on the cob-always goes with a clam bake

In the Lowcountry of South Carolina, the usual "extra" is hot dogs with chili...especially good for those who don't like oysters.
Fries are too hard to keep hot...you might opt for potato chips instead or have some heavier appetizers

Corn on the cob and roast potatoes

But I would add a nice big pot of boiled craw fish or maybe some jambalaya or etoufee

You could also do some great side/sauces/relishes to serve with the oysters like a chopped cucumber salad, fresh salsa, or jarred bruschetta toppings, roasted pineapple rings, mango salsa, chutneys, horseradish and hot sauce

many people say that potato salad go great with oysters...
