In your opinion....?!

Question:

In your opinion....?

what is the best food to serve at a party? What are the best drinks? Alchohol? what kind? What type of music, if any? Indoor or Outdoors? And so on and so on......what's your "ideal" party, except for a kegger

Answers:
Best foods are stuff easy to prepare, and to eat.

Antipasto trays
veggie platters
chips & dip
Veggie dips (artichoke or spinach)
crackers

You can do casserole type dishes such as lasagna and chicken and rice...easy to prepare ahead.

Drinks - kegs are easy - and cheap in the long run...
If you want to do mixed drinks, buy a bunch of mixers - juice, soda - a good variety & then ask everyone to bring a bottle of alcohol. (specify which ones, so everyone doesn't bring same) or vise versa - you get alcohol and designate mixers for people to bring. Get creative!

Outdoor is nice if you have the room and the right weather - cleanup is easier & people tend to feel more comfortable outside.

Make sure you have a great mix of music going & that you invite a wide variety of people!!!

Food - volavons, quiche, pringles, french bread
Drink - appletiser and shloer

BBQ
frozen something
mixed music ( reggae, r&b, dance, alter, etc)
Outdoors if you have room ( bugs, rain, temp. something to think about)

I love to have bbq parties throughout the summer season. Burgers, sausages and chicken for the bbq and plenty of salads and crisps & dips for the food - usually get people to bring their own booze so they don't get disappointed but always stock up on wine, beer and spirits.
Music wise I always find a compilation CD is best as it suits everyones taste - until I get out my karaoke machine!

I cannot answer if the party should be outside or inside. It depends on how warm it is outside and if it is raining or sunny. Appetizers are the best like deviled eggs, salsa and cream cheese with chips, and vegetables and dip.I have a few great recipes for appetizers my mom makes. Every time she makes them people rave about them. One is called
Black Bean Salad. It is really good and easy to make.

2 Avocados

1 red onion Diced
1 can black beans(rinsed and drained)
Add to first six ingredients.
Serve with chips

Artichoke Dip
1- 18 oz. can artichoke Hearts
1 C Mayo
1 C Parmeasn Cheese
1 C Mozzarella Cheese

---------------------------
Chop Artichoke Hearts & mix with remaining ingredients.
Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Serve with chips or crackers

Calico Beans
1 Pound Ground Beef(my uses ground chuck)
1/2 pound bacon cut up and browned
mix above ingredients together & add:
1/2 C Catsup
3/4 C Paked Brown Sugar
3 T. Cider Vinegar
1 TSP. Salt
1/2 C Chopped Onion
2 T. Dry Mustard
1 Large Can Pork and Beans
1 Can Lime or Butter Beans
1 Can Kidney beans
drain off part of liquid
------------------------------...
Mix well
Bake @ 350 for 40 minutes or in Crock Pot for two hours
My mom uses the crock pot so she can do other things to get ready for the party.

Alcohol is good, but does everybody at your party drink that. Wine, cans of beer and margaritas are wonderful to have. If they do not drink alcohol you can have cans of pop like Coke, Pepsi, and have diet of both kinds, tea, coffee, apple juice, cranberry juice, orange juice and water.
If is a party were everybody dresses up you should have jazz, blues, or classical music playing. If it is a casual party you should play 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and music of today. You can also play music that your guests like.
My ideal party to go to would be a dress up party with appetizers, classical music(instrumental), one or two tables set up for people to play games on.

Depends on what type of people are going to be a your party. I suggest beer and wine. For food, maybe a barbeque, like chicken, corn, hot dogs, and hambugers. Music, you should do disco, so people can dance to it. Depends where you live. You don't want an outdoor party if the place you live in is cold.

I always like a mexican fiesta outdoors. Grill up chicken and carne asada with tortillas, guacamole, beans, rice ...let people serve themselves and make their own burritos and things. Of course with this you would have Coronas and margaritas. Music could be anything.

cheese and crackers, every 1 likes cheese and crackers.

Since my home is small, I often entertain using both my deck and my living and dining rooms. In the winter, if weather permits, folks gather round the firepit and warm themselves with mugs of hot soup, chili, or spiked cider. I usually set up a buffet on the dining table for a "help yourself' atmosphere and food usually includes all or some of the following:

1. antipasto platter: sopressata, fennel salami, prosciutto,
marinated mushrooms, artichoke hearts, pepperoncini,
olives
2. Cheese platter with Spanish Manchenga, Kesseri,
mushroom brie and assorted crackers
3. Hot artichoke and crab dip with baguettes
4. Hot chili and cream cheese dip
5. Carrot, celery, cauliflower, tomatos, cucumber slices and bell pepper slices with dip
6. Artisan bread and rolls
7. Meat, such as ham or turkey, for slicing or a meat tray
8. Soup: chicken tortilla, black bean, french onion, split pea,
chili
9. Brownies, cupcakes, cookies

Most folks gather around the table for a while and then look for a nook to go sit in. I try to have some of the food in the living room if it seems like that's where folks are parking themselves for the evening. To drink? Lots of wine, red and white, with real wine glasses. Try a good sangeovese, pinot grigio, merlot, syrah, gamay, blanc de blanc, sauvignon blanc, and so on. Music? Mostly low key stuff like Diana Krall, or Eva Cassidy, or Ray Charles, or some good jazz, Norah Jones etc. Have fun!

Any alcohol is good!! But i prefer things like Jack, and Bud Lite. I wrk in a bar, so I kno alot of good alcohol, so if you wanna kno then email me.... megan81595@yahoo.com
