45th Wedding Anniversary Party Ideas?!

Question: 45th Wedding Anniversary Party Ideas!?
on 9th August we are holding a party for my parents 45th wedding anniversary!. My hubby and bro are cooking a 12 course sit down meal, and I'm in chrage of the table setting/decorations/cake/ room decorations!.

I have the normal ideas about balloons etc but am looking for something a lil different but still afordable!. I'm in the UK and the theme is obviously saphire, so I'm keeping it to blues, whites and maybe some lighter chades of pinky purples!.

Does anyone have any flower/balloon/any ideas!?!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Pictures are worth a thousand words so get lots of photos of their life!. All of their family and friends to display!. On the guest tables and a large portrait at the entrance!. Perhaps a slide show!. Nostalgic music with some newer stuff for younger folks if there'll be dancing!. Talk to your balloon person they've done and seen it all!. I like to scatter balloon bouquets rather than use a more expensive arch!. Don't forget carafes so that there is water avaliable at each table!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If its a sit down dinner, why not set the table to the colour theme, White table cover with blue top cover, napkins, flowered centrepiece, Think wedding setting,Www@FoodAQ@Com

Saphire is obviously associated with this anniversary:

sapphire as it is, with feelings of sympathy and harmony, friendship and loyalty: feelings which belong to qualities that prove their worth in the long term – feelings in which it is not so much effervescent passion that is to the fore, but rather composure, mutual understanding and indestructible trust!. Thus the blue of the sapphire has become a colour which fits in with everything that is constant and reliable!. That is one of the reasons why women in many countries wish for a sapphire ring on their engagement!. The sapphire symbolises loyalty, but at the same time it gives expression to people's love and longing!. Perhaps the most famous example of this blue is to be found in music, in George Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue"!.

Another gem stone associated with 45th anniversary is Alexandrite which is a gem stone, the mineral exhibites the colour green by sunlight and red/violet by artificial light!. In the Orient, it is regarded as a magical gem stone bringing good fortune to it's owner!.

So with these in mind i would go with a colour theme of blue, green and red!.

A flower display can be made up of blue delphimiums, blue cornflowers, green carnations, green roses or green foliage, red roses etc just use your imagination! Same with balloons but go with more of a mettallic sheen to them so they look more jewel like!.

You could have helium balloons tied on to 3 different lengths of ribbon and waited down to the table or tied to the backs of chairs!.

Cake you could have in the shape of a sapire or colour the icing blue or have a cup cake tower with writen icing on saying 45th anniversary and blue sugar crystals on top!.

You can have hit songs playing from 1963 like the beach boys, stevie wonder, bobby darin, four seasons and roy orbison!.

The number one song was sweets for my sweet by the searchers on 9th august 1963!.

So you could use sweets for favors or decoration which was available in 1963 like flying saucers, liquirice swirls, sherbert fountains, rubarb and custard sweets, everton mints, humbugs, rolos, munchies, milkybars, milkyway, fruit salad chews, pineapple cubes and smarties!.

Hope this all helps and I wish you parents all the best and congratulate them! Happy anniversary!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
