Party Favor Heeeeeelp!!!?!

Question:

Party Favor Heeeeeelp!!!?

I need elegant, INEXPENSIVE party favors for my dad's fiftieth birthday party. Its an after-five event. The party is in two weeks, and I haven't a clue on what kind of favors to get.

Answers:
Try oriental trading company...they have low cost favors.

custom printed wrappers for hersheys bars

cheap, plastic clocks: print or label his name and the event (50th bday) and date. then set the clock to the exact time he was born. I saw this idea at a s16 back in high school and i thought it was so cute--i still remember it today.

google searches for wedding or party favors and a lot of good websites might come up. theres one site i know off the top of my head www.partyspot .com

good luck!

My grandparents recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. What we did was buy disposable cameras with an elegant design on the outside and put one at each table. The guests can take pictures of the party with the cameras and then leave them. Once everything is done, you can take the cameras to be developed and have a wonderful scrapbook full of birthday memories for your dad. Hope this helps.

For food, pick up a recipe book (go to Barnes N Noble or Boarders for a great selection of cook books) Pick out 4-6 of the best recipes that you think will liven up the party. (Pick 1-2 Appetizers. 2-4 Dinner Entrees. 4-6 Deserts). Now look at what the ingrediants are.Depending on How many people are attending, double-triple the amount of ingrediants depending on how much the serving size is. Have someone help you prepare the food and go shopping for it. (Make a list of the food). This is an inexpensie way for food since your not ordering it, and its fun and shows that you want it all to come from the heart.

That is a good way for elegant food source.
Now for Decorations.
Of course you should get 4-7 Balloons but set those by the door, and dont flood the room with balloons and such. Instead, think of some of the things he enjoys and put things up in the room/house that will remind him of those things, blowing up pictures of doing his favorite activites will make him happy.

Also, if you do decide to do this, dont make it very bright. He is turing 50, not 10 or something like that.Instead to say its his birthday, but keep it classy, keep the lights semi-dimmed, even lighting scented candles, but thats all up to you. It depends of the amounts of people and if you want to party, but as you said elegant i would think of the guests dressed up in casual-type clothes, and having cocktails and ect. But setting the mood, not in a romantic way but as of a your 50 and over the hill lets celebrate but not party like we're 21.

So good LUCK!
and
Have a GOOD PARTY!

How about personalized M&M's in your dad's favorite colors and you can put them in small favor boxes or precut tulle.

I like the camera idea, my nephew did that for his wedding........and they got some great candid shots that make really good memories........

I'd go with the 50's theme......check what was popular 50 years ago......maybe see if you can hire a dance coach to show the dance moves of that time and have a dance contest(or even have your dad show off his best dance moves ?)

party favors...maybe find a variety of candy that was popular 50 years ago and make up small treat bags with a sample of each?

Put together a treat bag with adult type candies - chocolate mints, truffles. I have even done a trail mix bar before- had all the makings of a good trail mix- dried cranberries, nuts, raisins, even M&Ms- let everyone make it with what they like. Just provide a treat bag with ties. ( I even put a tacky little sign that said "Happy Trail Mix To You, but this wasn't a fancy party like the one you're having). You know the blank CDs aren't that expensive anymore - burn some of his favorite songs and give them out.
