Ideas!!-I need some ideas on a surprise party for my son's upcoming 17th b-day?

Answers:
1. Be the nicest mom and don′t be there
2. The Pam Anderson answer will work wonders
3. It would be wise to have a family gathering aside from the party, this way embarrassment won′t be part of the multiple traumas teenagers always ache
4. These are the times when being sensitvie and practical come handy: 17 is pretty delicate, you no longer have a baby boy and he still has lots to go to become a man, this way, space is always recommended
5. If he likes cheese cake you can order an awesome party-theme cake with something he really likes (that being girls, books, sports, etc.) from www.elegantcheesecakes.com, you will be completely pleased with the service, the flavours and the creativity they will display to surprise your kid
6. Good luck to you!!!

Pam Anderson

Well, as a 17 year old female...I've been to a few parties. Dont make it too young. I mean decorations wise, simple is best. I wouldnt have a theme. But a color Scheme is always a great idea. For example, are your sons favorite colors blue and orange? Then have blue and orange things like balloons, plates, table cloth ect. That way things match and look nice, but dont have a theme. I would also plan to have a BBQ or pizza if you plan on eating. I dont know of anyone who wont eat burgers or pizza! Invite his friends, or get them involved in the planning!! Also music is good. As far as activities you could watch movies, dance or throw around a football outside. I wouldn't try to plan the activities, 17 year olds are unpredictable. I hope this helps!!

What is your son into? Theme it up! for decorations, food can be finger foods like a Superbowl Party! Lots of sodas!
Get some music going, Maybe have compition gaming, foosball, pool, games like PS3, etc. dance revolution? JUst set the partys atmosphere with what your son likes. Keep it simple for yourself, and most important have fun!

17 tough age for a party thing. Maybe do a vegas night with poker blackjack rullete, ect.. where your the bank. That stuff can usually be rented from a local rental place. you may loose your shorts and fork out alot of money, but chances are you'll make money..at least enough to cover the rentals. lol... and you could supply dinks, maybe even hire a waitress that dresses "vegas" style for the night or something... the drinks could be at your discretion. but if you collect keys at the door. i say a bit of beer never hurt any one. but get permission from the guests parents, and arrange transportation to get them home safely. To me not only does this sound like a good time, but it teaches responsibility.

If he's a typical 17 yr old boy he likes girls, food, friends and maybe music... Therefore I would recomend if you're trying to do a surprise party to secretly talk to his best friend or a few of his closest friends and have them help you get a guest list going of who to invite (They can also help with finding a way to invite them, whether it be via email, phone calls or cards in the mail). Are you friends with his close friends mom's? If so rope them into helping you with food prep... Get some foods that kids in that age range like to eat, finger foods that are greasy and tastey. I don't know how big of a town you live in or if you're familiar with what kind of music your son likes but if you could find a local band to preform that would be a cool unexpected treat for his birthday. Small bands normally dont charge much and are just happy to have somewhere to play and get some exposure.

If you didnt want to do a traditional party you could also get he and some of his closest friends tickets to a ball game or concert that he and his friends could go too together.

a big picture of him when he was a baby in diapers or naked to print on the cake...that would surprise him

Maybe you could have a party at a bowling alley. Have some pizza and soda delivered there. Take cake for dessert. Most teenagers like to bowl.
