I'm planning a college graduation party for a friend. I need a theme?!

Question:

I'm planning a college graduation party for a friend. I need a theme?

my friend and I are church girls so some of our guests will be from church. We really wants the party to be a blast. So the theme shouldnt involve people acting so crazy that they'd avoid each other after the party but it should be something that'll have people wondering where we came up with the party idea

Answers:
The best party I ever had was a Havana nights theme.

We made cocktails for our guests (pina coladas, mojitos and daquiris) - you could also make non-alcoholic cocktails, cuban music and we decorated our house with a large homemade backdrop with a cuban sunset over the sea.

Alternatively, something like a poker night could be fun.

I've also been to a beer challenge which was really good - we had a selection of beers from around the world, and we had to taste each and guess which country it was from. This could be easily adapted for liquor, wine etc.

The theme can be 2004:p Use 2004 songs, and sai to the guests to dress up in what the celebertibes wore then;)

I went to two recent college grad parties - one was a "Mad Hatter" party where everyone who came had to wear a wild hat. They had sort of a "trashy teaparty" and it was a riot! Lots of fun. Another I went to was similar, you had to wear a wig. It makes for some fun pictures and memories.

I like sophistication. Graduating a party is a BIG thing and you want to show how "grown up" you are so you can get a bunch of appetizers (Go to Costco and buy the mini quiches, or trader joe's has some great appetizers), buy some cheeses, cut some fruit, pop a brie in the oven, serve it along side wine, mixed drinks, non alki drinks, mojitos and take all the chairs away so people won't sit. You have to be the hostest with the mostest and do your circulation rounds.

OR I suggest a tapas and Sangria party. You can go to the dollar store and buy some great decorations that match...Just little attention to detail. And if you have time, do little gift favors.

As for making it unique...Watch Sandra Lee on Food Network. She does great themed entertainment.

I gave a Chinese themed party once. I had my own fortunes printed up and inserted into fortune cookies. I decorated with dragons and kites and gongs. It was a hit for me.

For a college graduate, you should have a "Junior Executive Party." Have everyone dress in business suits and power ties, as if it is an office party at a law firm. Much more classy and approriate than a "pimps and hos ball"

As you and your friend are very much involved with the church then why not Base it on the church, each guess must come dressed as a character from the bible only one stipulation no one must come as , you guessed if Jesus. Hope the party goes like a banquet. and night like the last supper.
