Teddy Bear Picnic Baby Shower Ideas?!

Question:

Teddy Bear Picnic Baby Shower Ideas?

I'm giving a friend a baby shower in a couple months. We've chosen a Teddy Bear Picnic Theme and I'd love some ideas. It will be at a real nice outdoor patio with a gazebo and lots of trees.

What a cute idea. The words to that song go so well with a baby shower. Maybe you could have it playing softly as guests arrive? I'd turn it off once the shower begins, but it would really set the mood.

You could cover the gift table with a checkered cloth that looks like a picnic blanket, and you can get small picnic baskets from a local craft store for decorations - open one end and put a checkered napkin and each guest's spoon and fork in there, sticking out so they show. Our local craft store even has little teddy bears that could hold the baskets (a little piece of double sided tape on each of teddy's hands would make him look like he was holding the basket.)

Next, you have to check out this Teddy Bear Diaper Cake for a centerpiece. It's just precious:

Diaper Cakes are my favorite idea for a shower! Perfect centerpiece, practical gift, you can even use them for a game - have guests guess how many diapers and what surprises are hidden inside the cake! They are a great conversation piece too and everyone just crowds around them.

Here's another diaper cake website to check out. The mommy-to-be is lucky to have someone who is putting so much thought into plannning a great baby shower for her. And I LOVE the outdoor patio idea and the gazebo. What a beautiful and memorable setting.

Use little teddy bear stuffed or plastic as part of your table decorations. Get a chocolate candy mold and make teddy bear chocolates for the favors.

make paper teddy bears and string them around the patio, serve sandwiches in the shapes of bears and maybe one of the shower activities could be decorating bear shaped cookies or diapering a teddy bear.

find a teddy bear cookie cutter........and use it to make the sandwiches in teddy bear shape, make a cake in teddy bear shape, a veggie platter could be creatively arranged in teddy bear shape as well, same with fruit platter, teddy bear decorations should not be too hard to find, maybe have everyone bring their favorite teddy bear item(actual stuffed bear, teddy bear themed book, teddy bear nursery rhyme, teddy bear game etc etc), maybe have everyone bring something teddy bear to give to the mom to be.....just give a list of suggested items and have everyone decide what they are bringing ahead of time so mom doesn't end up with 50 stuffed teddy bears(could be teddy bear bank, teddy bear towel, sheets, sleepers, clothes, books, hair clips, etc etc)

Is it only in America that people have these "baby showers" ? I've never heard of them in Europe/UK/Ireland. Just curious.

Great! What a fun theme to pick! Here are some more ideas for you directly from the Winnie the Pooh theme package from www.allbabyshowergames.com.

When you think of a Bear the color Brown comes to mind. Brown or Black should be used as the main color for your Theme.
Daisies or Chrysanthemums are flowers that suit a Teddy Bear Baby Shower.
From there you can match. Brown and yellow make a great match so this would be fitting for either sex since yellow is universal for both Girls and Boys.
You can find teddy bear pattern tablecloths, paper plates and napkins at most party stores.
You’ll find all sorts of Bear and Winnie the Pooh decorations if you look at the local craft store and dollar store.

Food and Drink will be a very important part of your Party!!
Include the usual snack foods, like vegetables and dip.
The trick here is to match the color of the foods to the color of your Theme. For example Bears love honey, fish and nuts so choose recipes that include those ingredients. And, since many bears are brown in color, your Party colors should include brown. Any brown drink or food in color would also do.

Make sure you get fitting games to go with the party! At www.allbabyshowergames.com you'll find the right games to go with your BEARS THEME.

Happy Planning....

well actually there are plenty of interesting things to do with a baby shower but my top choices are the potato drop you get a jar with a big enough mouth for a potato to be dropped in just place the potato between your knees and scoot your way to the jar and see if you can drop it in with touching it. and also the clothespin game put up a piece if string but about 20 clothespins on it and with one hand behind your back pull as many of them off as you can without dropping any. i played these at my shower really quite fun.

If any kids are coming...Make peanut butter bear shaped sandwiches..Take a bear shaped cookie cutter and press out the shapes once the sandwiches are made. You can set them up in a basket with a red and white linen cloth for display
