I'm having my first housewarming party tomorrow, what should I serve as food?!

Question:

I'm having my first housewarming party tomorrow, what should I serve as food?

treats, meals, drinks.. etc.

Answers:
Pasta salad or potato salad

Chicken wings (fried or baked)

Maybe a veggie or deli meat platter with
rolls.

Meatballs in marinara sauce (make sure you have the rolls for them and the parmesan cheese).

Crackers and dip (Wheat Thins are good with onion dip or Ritz Crackers).

Cake or pie

Iced Tea, Soda pop, Coffee and Tea.

One easy meal that folks seem to like is: One large pack of the premade meatballs....heated...pour into large bowl...pour in one large can of pre heated sweet and sour sauce..serve with long skewers. They'll eat 'em up.

Lots of finger foods. We served Swedish meatballs, chili, I made a meat and cheese platter, hummus with parsley oil in a bread bowl, bought a shrimp platter and some crudites from the market. I might have made a spinach dip in a bread bowl. And crackers of course. It was all a hit, my family asked me where I bought the hummus! And I had to tell them I made it! Heh, like they didn't know I'd been in the restaurant business. It was an ego-boost. The recipe for the hummus is on epicurious.com.

I like doing a variety of small platters..
Shrimp cocktail
Veggie tray (do it with endive leaves, barely steamed asparagus, snow or sugar snap peas-raw or barely steamed, sliced colored bell peppers), and a fresh herb dip.
Hummus and pita chips
Mini meatballs and a can of pineapple chunks, cooked with a little of the pineapple juice and some sweet and sour sauce.
Liver pate and/or smoke salmon and crackers.
Spinach or artichoke dip, baked in a hollowed out bread bowl, and served with bread slices and triscuits.
Bowls of steamed and salted edamame.

For drinks, I usually just try to have a good selection of juices and sodas- both can be served alone or with alcohol, which I tend to keep a good assortmant of..and some cold, bottled beer.

Hope your party is a big success! Congrats on your new place!

well short notice to prepare anything big...but for a casual party like housewarming........simple is good.....veggies and dip, deli meats and variety of breads, a variety of salads(links below -- I looked around all recipes for some different types of salads....variety is good havent tried these particular ones as of yet though), pigs in a blanket, seven layer dip with tortilla chips

Should have arranged a "bring a course" party

ham chip ham diet coke

I would not sweat the hard stuff , just maybe make a lot of finger foods that are easy on the pocket book and also most crowds like fingers foods it feels more relaxing ,not so formal
Cheese, Crackers , Cream cheese dip, maybe make a nice warm pot of soup or stew as well with buns, butter , chilled wine and maybe a few sweets delectable brownies are always a hit at my parties , I have thrown many parties and the best ones are the ones where it is casual :O} hope some of this helped have fun

make everything easy, finger friendly,so u can have fun

you should serve knitting needles...or if you arent in the mood for sharp items, how about fish livers? very tasty on bread...

SIMPLE , WARM PASTA SALAD,MADE OF RIGATONI WITH SAUTE BROCCOLI,CHOPPED ONION,GARLIC, IN OLIVE OIL, ADD SALT PEPPER AND GRATED CHEESE...........A BOWL OF DIFFRENT OLIVES,.....SLICED ITALIAN BREAD......A PLATTER WITH DIFFERENT CHEESES..........A BUNCH OF CELERY STICKS,CARROT STICKS,ZUCCHINI STICKS. MAKE A PITCHER OF ICED TEA, FRESH LEMONADE, AND ORANGEADE,........DESERT BERRIES, AND SORBERT NAMASTE

well, it's kind of short notice for a big production, so I'd suggest ordering pizza. Saves time, and clean up.

But if you want to cook, chicken fingers, Some kind of pasta dish and a big pot of chili worked well for me. A batch of biscuits would work well too.

Just have a variety or drinks on hand, buy pop and have iced tea and juice made.

Fruit bowl and salad bowls are always a good way to go for cheapness on price and it does feed alot. Go with mini bottles of water and the mini cans of soda's or can drinks. People never drink all of the soda in the regular sized cans. Also, you can call up subway and have them make you one of those Huge long sub sandwiches..I did it onces and it disappeared..everyone loved it.
