Question:

Idea's for a garden party...?

Okay. My In-laws are going on holiday and allowed us to hold a garden party at their very exprensive house... Hurray!!

Anyway, does anyone have any idea's on foods, etc, to make the day/night enjoyable.

Im worried people will come round and be bored stiff haha!!

Thanks x

Answers:
Garden party ha..Spice it up(not litterally)with garden fresh veggies in a caserole. Look up some good recipes online..I'm sure you will find one. Also fruit platters are sure to be a hit..and don't forget to decorate them..I use the top part of pineapples and fresh mint or rosemarry leaves on the platters as a center piece...You will be the talk of the party and so will these beautiful dishes. LOL!!! Have fun.

Parlor games will take away the potential for boredom. Make sure there are plenty of drinks.

Invite a few close friends and make it a pot luck.
Have cocktails.

Maybe a 20's theme- check out the Great Gatsby for inspiration!

I think it would be really lovely theme for garden party.

Why don't you barbeque? Get people to bring along meat and alcohol so it doesn't get too expensive for you. Make up different salads. Get some party plates so u can bin them when u r finished and u won't smash the in-laws best plates. Get some music going and encourage people to dance.

Have a great time whatever you decide to do.

Have an amazing BBQ with steak, tandoori chicken, banana wrapped in bacon (its good, trust me)...anything else you want. Also have lots of side dishes, such as rice, home made barbeque sauce, a variety of salads including homemade potato salad and coleslaw. Then finish with an amazing summery dessert such as a massive, fruity pavlova.

On the drinks side, try some sort of punch or sangria. Or make cocktails for your guests.

Also, if anyone can play an instrument (particularly guitar) encourage them to bring it along and you could have some live music, or a sing along. If not, then just put on some nice chilled out summery music.

This is making me wish I had a nice garden now!

we usually ask people to bring what they want to eat for a barbique, and then you cant go wrong, plus everybody wants to try cooking it too ,which is a laugh sometimes. get some speakers wired up out side pic some tunes and relax it will be fine lol. hope this helps regards john

i was thinking of havin' 1 but live on the 16th floor in the local flats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

Lots of fresh finger foods. Shrimp cocktail, things on skewers, lots of fresh fruit with different dipping sauces.
Sliced meats and cheeses that are easy to serve and eat. Umbrellas drinks premade so you can enjoy the party too.

Music, not so loud as to drown conversation, just easy listening in the background. Shrimp around a bowl of cocktail sauce, chicken breast skewers (satay) with a dipping sauce, Platters of veggies with dip (fresh) slide some chunks of fruit on a longer sandwich pick and serve with a fruit dip (think fruit kebobs). Cheeses on a tray with grapes and crackers. Invite people that you know will have things in common so they will talk together for hours and just remember that they had a good time. Have one couple bring their favorite red wine, have another bring their favorite white. That ensures people will enjoy their beverages! It's also a way of keeping expenses in control. Don't forget the flowers! Have fun.

make it nice nice and colourful with nicke and fancy crockery. kepp lots of flowers and candles . choose a colour and make that party acording to that . keep some runig and catching kind of games for enjoyment

Get the BBQ going and get hold of a couple of the old style bins fill it with ice and cold water, and put ur alchol (IE Cans of Larger, Alacpops)in them so u dont have to keep fanning bout going into the house, get a decent CD player outside and blast the tunes out, you will find people will make there ow3n fun.
