RE: Food to serve at a 3 yr and up Princess themed Birthday party?

I would like some ideas for unique, tasty and food fit to feed all the little princesses besides the usual cake and ice cream, pizza . Also minimal cooking the day of the party and it has to be pleasant to the eye.

Answers:
Pink and White cupcakes. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches cut out in the shape of crowns and hearts. Pink milk or shirley temples. Crown or heart shaped pasta (you can get it at Williams-Sonoma or online) mixed with butter and cheese. Fruit kabobs with pink, white and yellow marshmellows. If you need anymore ideas, e-mail me. Hope this helps!!

pigs in the blanket using little smokies and crescent rolls

little heart shaped sandwiches with jam and pb
red jello and cool whip
pink and white gummy candies
a fruit platter with yogurt and pudding dip (just mix vanilla pudding mix with some yogurt, add a little red food coloring for a nice pink color
veggies and dip

Hmm, finger food like carrots, cubes of cheese, cucumber slices, grapes, etc. Frost some cupcakes ahead of time and have decorations for them to decorate their own. Have them help make their own peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and use a cookie cutter to cut out a cute shape. Good luck@

Fairy bread - you HAVE to have fairy bread at a princess party. Loaf of bread, butter and sprinkles it is always a favorite. I requested fairy bread at my 20th birthday! (Sad i know) It tastes yum nad keeps with the princess theme

hmm...pink n white fairy cakes,jammy heart

hot boiling soup
sushi
foi gras
really hot wings
Do you think that kids 3 years old are worried about the taste of food or what they are being served
they are 3 years old
give them frog legs and they won't know it
maybe serve pasta
3 years old eating pasta by themselves
break out the steam cleaner

3 year olds and younger children like to nibble. These dishes can be set out at their serving table so they can pick what they like to eat. Lots of times they only take a bite or two!

For the kids:
Fruit diced in bite size pieces on separate plates to be taken and eaten as a finger food (kids that age usually do not like things mixed-grapes, watermelon, melon, pineapple, banana, strawberry)
Cheese tray (bite size pieces-string cheese, cheddar, deli american- cut up)
pickles/olives
cracker tray-ritz, club, goldfish, pretzel
smokie links in crescent rolls (another poster mentioned--my nephews love these easy to have pre-made and ready to go in the oven)
rolled up turkey lunch meat
Dessert: if you do not like cake, kids usually love cookies with frosting and sugar sprinkles on them. You could frost cookies (home made or store bought) and use different brightly colored sugar sprinkles for decor.
All of the above can be made festive depending on dicing technique and the dishes they are served on all fit for a princess!
For a beverage, I would stick with water or pink lemonade. You can make fun ice cubes by freezing a gummy bear or two in them. When little kids run around having fun at a party, sometimes carbonation in pop or milk does not sit well in the tummy. Serve the water or lemonade in a pretty princess glass you can get from party stores with a brightly colored straw.

If there are adults at the party, have some fruit, chips and a party sub for them. Some cookies or brownies too. You can make your own party subs if you want to be creative. Get the big long loaf of crusty bread from a bakery or panera, cheeses different lunchmeats and assemble. You can have them sliced and waiting on a platter, with sides of peppers, lettuce, mustard, mayo, italian and other sub toppings so they can dress them as they want.

Whatever you decide, have a blast!!

Last year we had a princess tea party for our 5 year old daughter. I made finger sandwiches. I made ham sandwiches with whipped scallioin cream cheese, tomato sandwiches, pb&j's, and cucumber with aloutte. I placed them on a tiered dish. I served decaf tea with cream and sugar cubes. Although theirs was the color of cream and full of lumpy sugar they drank it. For dessert I bought petit fours. I put these on the same tiered dish the sandwiches were on before. I did buy her a birthday cake because I knew she would want to blow out candles. I found some cheap white tea accessories at the christmas tree shop, but oriental trading probably has them as well. I ended up finding some small white plates as well, but I entertain a lot. Buying pink plastic or paper plates would be just fine. For decorations stayed away from actaul princesses and went for more of a theme. I bought tiaras and wands, pink and white streamers, A ton of shimmery pink, white and silver balloons. I also bought a bag of silver beads and deocrated the table with them and pink rose petals. This was a party for primarily for family, although there were a few close friends there so I felt comfortable asking the parents to dress the girls up. My daughter had an excuse to wear her easter dress again so she was thrilled.

Finger sandwiches would be ideal. You can use pretty shaped flower cookie cutters to cut them up, put them on a nice silver (plastic) tray. Presentation is every thing. Then serve fruity flavored tea (decaff of course) and serve it in tea cups. You can also serve puffed pastry appetizers, you can find them in the frozen food section and all you would have to do is pop them in the oven.
