Luncheon ideas?!

Question:

Luncheon ideas?

I need some ideas to put on a teachers luncheon for approximately 70 teachers for appreciation week in may. This is a volunteer pot luck sort of lunch looking for themes and for meal ideas as well. Thanks

Don't know what your budget is, but here are some ideas that have worked for our PTA. Depending on whether your teachers will gather at one time for lunch OR come at their own lunch periods, here are my suggestions:

One gathering for all is easy to do with trays of lasagna (prepared by volunteers), salad, bread and a dessert. Another idea is sloppy joes, potato salad, beans and a dessert. This requires several volunteers, but worth the effort for our teachers.
If the teachers will be coming at various times (their lunch hour), then a sandwich board and salad is the easiest to put together.

I used to do teacher luncheons! You can get a 6 foot sandwich from a deli, along with sides like pasta salad, a green tossed salad and a cole slaw. Couple bags of potato chips. Or cold cut trays, or a wrap tray. Plenty of cookies and cookie bars. One year, along with sodas, I got a couple of bottles of seltzer and cut up lemons and limes...that was a big hit. Good Luck....teachers are hungry people~

mashed potatoes and gravy

If it fell close to May 5th you could do Cinco de Mayo and have a mexican theme...maybe a taco bar where people could make their own tacos, could decorate with mexican themed items such as pinatas, blankets, sombreros, etc.
Side dishes could include rice and beans and flan for dessert.

chicken ceasar wraps or Curry Chicken wrap

teachers are notorious for worrying what the others think of their eating habits! so some of the best ideas will be simple and healthy. make up a salad bar type area. you can do the nutritional things ...lettuce tomatoes cheese cucumbers bell peppers . then build on it maybe add ham turkey bacon chicken.go on to pasta salad maybe a veggie salad.finish with a way fantastic dessert.something rich and chilled and totally stunning to the senses.

I got some lunch meat like beef and chicken and had it with small rolls to make their own sandwiches, (pickles, mustard, mayo, olives...)have everyone else bring a salad or chips.

Cold chicken & salad
mini quiches
meatballs & dipping sauce
samoosas
sandwiches
fruit salad
Nachos
Dips & rice crackers

maybe a theme could be food of their ancestors, or something to represent what class they teach. for example the french teacher could bring in a quiche and the english teacher could bring in shepards pie. another idea if it's elementary school is to have the students submit ideas for their teacher.

If you have a subway restaurant in your area you can order a 6 foot long sandwhich or two and have it cut up so it will serve alot of people then you can get everyone to bring a side dish of chips or side salad ( potato salad cole slaw )

4 them sure rice and beans
