I hosted a 60th birthday party for my mother last year and I went through all her childhood pictures. I picked out my favorites, blew them up and posted them around the party. This started a lot of conversations because most of the guests didn't know my mom when she was a kid. My aunt also had a 60th birthday party and at that party, she asked my dad to sort of m/c and ask for anyone to tell a story about my aunt. It was cute and sentimental but it does put pressure on the guests to perform in front of a crowd. Some people love that but most feel uneasy. You could also ask the guests to write a message to your mother on a keepsake item. There are many choices here, a serving plate with a special writing pen, a large mat to go around a picture (frame it without the glass and then have everyone sign). Don't worry too much. People are usually good about visiting with the people they know so you don't need to do too much to entertain. Good luck!

just have it relaxing for her its her birthday forget everyone else.

Photographs of family and friends situated around the room. People can look at them and reminisce.

Comedy or music would be nice. Let your mother tell about some of her interesting experiences if she is not too shy. That would be fun. Hope your mother has a HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

Try a 50's theme. A bunch of us have celebrated our 70th this year and the 50's theme is popular. I had a brunch for mine with no theme but others have had pizza parties, KFC and burgers and dogs for 50's. You can easily decorate with that theme. Do a trivial pursuit game with prizes for answering different questions relating to TV and things that were popular. You can find most that stuff on the internet. Just make sure they have room to move around which I didn't do as there will probably be all ages and some move better than others. You can find info on net for all types of parties but just don't make them look silly. We are not old and senile anymore at 70 and don't like being talked down to.

Let each person tell a story from their youth...(funny...etc.)

Take along the picture albums and a few decks of cards... These people have lived thru it all.. the 50's N rock n roll.. the hippie to the yippie stages.. They have rock n rolled... done the monkey.. the twist.. disco.. and watched it all come full circle.. yep even the bells and bare mid drifts.. hahahahhaa

Your mom can enjoy anything you have planned for her... she is adjustable.. hahaha (smiles)

SEW have fun on her day

I was at a wedding recently and the best man asked us to bring a bottle and cover the label with a drawing or photo that would make the person think who donated that bottle. For example, my friend who was getting married is Dutch and he could never remember the word 'saucepan' and it bacame a bit of a joke, so I drew a saucepan and stuck it over the label. Then my friend guessed it was me and it was a cue to tell that story (funny when you know it!). You could do something like that or get people to bring some item that will remind your mum of that person or an event and then they can have fun remembering good times.

LIMBO LIMBO LIMBO
70 year old ladies love to limbo
and male strippers
have the strippers do the limbo
you might want to have EMS standing by or better yet stand in the room
