I assume you're speaking of a tupperware party. It where a representitive who sells tupperware (plastic food storage type stuff) goes to the persons house who is hosting the party & shows some of the merchandise. The hostess usually provides light snacks. People look through catalogs & the merchandise that was brought & place orders for the things they want. Some times the sales person delivers it to the buyer themselves, sometimes they bring it to the hostess to deliver. The hostess usually receives some type of gift or discount for hosting the party & depending on how much was made in sales on her party.

Tupperware. It's a brand of food containers and other kitchen gadgets.

It's tupperware and my mom use to sell it and she would have these "tupperware parties" where she would invite her friends over and they would have snacks and drinks and she would try to sell them "tupperware" products. And, also try to have them have a "tupperware party". That way she would get free "tupperware". You also might have heard about "candle parties" which is the same thing.

Tupperware is the brand name of a home products line that includes preparation, storage, and serving products for the kitchen and home.
Like containers you put your left overs in...
Great question!

Tupperware dear, the quintessential pioneer in plastic containers. Women get together at a designated home, you are shown all the kinds of containers tupperware, you are offered a catalog, you can buy them there, and of course the hostess gets a gift. Women have been holding these parties for the past thirty years.

It's called Tupperware, which is a bunch of plastic bowls, cups, pitchers and microwaveable containers that's sold only through the party system. You call your Tupperware consultant, and book a party. Then, you call all your friends, invite them to your party, make some goodies, and allow the consultant to set up a table full of Tupperware, for everyone to see and touch. She demonstrates how they work, and shows you the new stuff that just came out. Then, she gets everyone to play a few games, with the winner earning some Tupperware gadgets, like an egg separator, or a sock sorter. She also passes out some booklets that show all the Tupperware products, along with a pen and an order blank. Then, you look through the book, eat the goodies, visit with your friends, and order Tupperware (which I call Suckerware, 'cause it's too expensive). The consultant then takes the orders (and your money), tells you when it will be in, gets a few of your friends to book parties at their houses, packs up & leaves. And that's a Tupperware party. Kinda fun, especially the games, but very expensive if you can't control yourself. <*)))><

A "Tupperware Party" is a method of marketing these products by hosting a social gathering (usually at someone's home), and using the event to display and demonstrate the products to those attending, then taking orders for the products before the gathering ends.

These were real popular when I was a kid in the '70s and early '80s. I think this marketing system has lost some popularity as more women have entered the work force and no longer have the time at home to either host or attend such events.

I think you mean 'Tuppaware'.

I didn't think people still held these parties to be honest.

It's basically selling plastic food containers. The lids have a unique 'burping' system which keeps the food inside (almost) airtight, therefore fresh.

Very 1970's!!

where a bunch of bored housewives get together and gossip and sell plastic kitchen ware

Tupperware Party. Plastic ware for the kitchen.

Tupperware parties are mostly for rubber boxes to put your leftovers in/ or carrying food

is a meeting for housewives organized from a sale-agent (most of them are friends or neighbors) to sell 'Topawears'.i.e plastic food containers for several kind of food. The organizer entertains them with Coffey, cakes etc. that is the reasons why were called party, even if the target of this happening is just to sell goods.

Tupperware. its a container product made of plastic. very handy but pricey. and yes housewives used to have tupperware parties all the time.

a party where you take your top off... its awesome i took mine off and i got a lot of money! also all the food left over you take it home in a plastic container. 10 points for me all the way!

People don't hold these parties anymore. For those of you of haven't figured it out, it's what you tell people when you are actually having a "sex" party and you want them to be none the wiser... Just another way things reinvent themselves.
