We are having a 50's theme party?!

Question:

We are having a 50's theme party?

I need some help on a theme party it's the first theme party we have thrown. Where can I find some good decorations and such things for a good party?

Please Help!!

Answers:
Party City, or a similar party store, is probably the best place to look. For theme parties, sometimes the most important part isn't the decorations, but whether or not people dress up. Make sure everyone is decked out in poodle skirts, Mary Janes, white t's, and cuffed pants. You can go to any store that sells music for CD's with the best music of the 50's. You could try Circuit City, Best Buy or even Target.

Hanging old records would be cool too, but records can be expensive. If you're looking for a cheaper thing with the same look, use construction paper!

Maybe you could even rent a Jukebox or something fun like that!

I did this when I was younger it was so much fun. If you can find old records from the 50's you should hange them on the walls. You can also check partycity.com or the store itself they usually have a nice selection. Check out Best Buy or Circuit City for some compilation cds of music. Soda fountains and ice cream fountains were big back then and when I did this party we had a make your own sundae station, it was so much fun!

try
****
Party stores(party usa)
*
costume stores
*
vintage clothing stores

good luck..............

Goodwill ought to have some clothes for ya. Make it a Happy days theme...

You could go to thrift stores and buy used records to hang from the ceiling and put on the walls, if they're not from the 50's, just make a new label to tape on with names of songs and groups from the 50's. You can go to http://www.partypro.com/items.asp?cc=50t...
to shop online.

Candy cigs are a must for the guys to roll up in their shirt sleeve

For my graduation party, which was similarly themed, I went to a local antique shop and found old magazine advertisements (I found all sorts for candy, cars, makeup!) and hung them on the wall. It makes it really unique and interesting!!
Go to a specialty candy shop and buy candy that came out and was popular in the 50's (example: Mary Jane's) and have them in bowls on your guest tables.

James Dean theme
or Elvis early days theme

If this is going to be a big party in a hall, look at this site for some great decorations. http://www.StumpsProm.com
If this is going to be a house party, look at http://www.mninternational.com or http://www.orientaltrading.com
For other decorations, look at the great 50's themed decorations at Party City or Party Plus stores.
