Birthday party planning--18 years old?
I am going to be 18! I need ideas plEAAAASE. i was thinking along the lines of a formal dinner pparty with cocktails (most of my friends are older) because i dont want to throw a generic party where everything gets messed. all decoration and prty ideas welcomed. thanks so much for ur help!

Cocktail parties are okay, but what would you really do at them? When I think of cocktail parties, I think of boring work parties that no one really wants to go to. Have something more interesting. Do a theme party. You could do a toga party, an animal party, an "Anything but clothes" party where people have to make their clothes out of things like duct tape, garbage bags, etc. Have food and music and movies. Themes always make the atmosphere a little more fun.
for my 18 i had danceing in one room, with a good selection of music, since i'm guessing it's warm where u are, u could have something outside like the cocktail bar u spoke of. there were black lights at mine, we had air hockey and movies, at the end of the night we did a scavenger hunt, just encourage people to have a good time, and don't overplan because often times, it's not even noticed. just keep it simple.
You should have a slumber party. Or Slumber "themed" party. Think Formal dining in pajama's. Do your hair and all that girly stuff, have a table set, lots of food, music, maybe a local band that your friends would enjoy. I would have an inside (garages work too) club atmosphere, black lights, strobes, maybe disco lights if your feeling up to it. but remeber pajama's....yeah..... slumber party. Dancing, food, chicks in their pajama's. Takes me back to the college days.
Oh.... don't forget Tiki Torches and games.
hire out a big pub with for say 6hours 6.00pm to 12.00am
choose 20-30 friends and put a big tab on the bar say about 2000 dollars at the max including food or drink cost you 4000 dollars all together make sure your friends bring present so you don't feel used they should be shouting you
In my state = can't drink until age 21.
Hmmmmmmmmm Try renting the pool at a Holiday Inn or Ramada.. where the ones of age can go get a drink and bring it back... all legal enough then. But if you eat poolside then you would have a waiter to do the running.
