Burgers and quarter pound hot dogs..
Have the staples there and it will be a hit with everyone.
Have plates of cookies and brownies around too. People love to nibble at these things.
Have Fun
sew
cover your grounds by having a variety of food: chicken hamburgers and hot dogs. someone is bound to like at least one of those things. then also have a salad. you can ask guest's to bring a side dish or dessert item of their choice to add to the the party.
Have a pig roast and get a keg of beer and make some horse shoe pits and get a watermelon and soak it in vodka and make jello shots and hire a stripper!!!
why dont you have it catered
or have burgers, grilled chicken breats salads
20 years olds are pretty easy to please.... I dont know if you guys drink or not, but some music, beer and simple BBQ stuff is just great. I went and actually got a custom boob cake for my boyfriend when he turned 20 LOL..... it was big frosty delicious boobs which he loved hahah...... But burgers, salads, hot dogs, BBQ chicken, all thats easy and simple. Maybe even pull out a limbo stick or something to play limbo!
I did my 21st birthday with a Roman theme (I'm a Classical Archaeology major.) A family friend lent us their beach house, but you could easily do this on a public beach or at a pool. I sewed lots of pillows in soft, richly colored fabrics and created a tent by sewing together gauzy pieces of fabric and attaching it to four garden posts. I made a golden table out of a large cardboard box, which we could all recline under and eat.
The food was burgers, hot dogs, and chicken breasts on the grill. We had a large Caesar salad, penne pasta with sauce and meatballs, a dish of sausage and peppers, and plenty of snack foods (chips, dip, etc) plus dishes of (non-melting) candy. I baked for two days beforehand and made cookies and sweets for dessert, then we had the Olive Garden's Black Tie Mousse cake as my birthday cake. We had a wet bar with multiple sodas and liquors (I turned 21) but this can easily be done for underage drinkers with non-alcoholic mixers and lots of garnishes (oranges, cherries, lemons, limes, etc).
DO send out invitations, but don't ask what kind of meat people like. It is not your responsibility to satisfy everyone's particular taste, but burgers, dogs and chicken SHOULD cover all the bases. (If not, buy one box of veggie burgers and don't open them unless someone requests it.) This is what people will expect. The side dishes are important as well - people remember the food the most.
If I were you I would do hamburgers, hot-dogs and kabobs (spelt wrong) of chicken cherry tomato's and pinapple and red onion and marinate it in Italian salad dressing.
Then as my sides I would do macaroni salad, potato salad, coleslaw, deviled eggs and a pickle and olive tray and baked beans.
Then have what ever you guys like to drink and some music and for dessert a cake and some fruit on a skewer or fruit with a choc. fondue that is always fun just cut up what ever fruit you like and marshmallows also go over big.
And of course chips and dips
Hope this helps and have a great party!
First of all, this is YOUR party, so do as much in advance so you can enjoy yourself.
think of a theme....Hawiian, Rock N Roll, oldies, Disco, Mexican are just some ideas.
Then plan the food. Remember, if you can't do the food the day before, it may take up too much of your time and take you away from your company. Some ideas are - Salads - potatoe, macaroni, & spagetti salad can all be done the day before. Baked beans can be put in the oven or a crock pot in the morning. Coney Island sauce can be put into a crock pot in the morning. Hot dogs can be grilled quickly or placed into a crock pot with water early in the morning. Hamburgers can be formed the day before and wrapped on a tray. Hot dog and hamburger fixins (lettuce, tomatoe, chopped onion, pickels, etc) can be placed on a platter the day before and wrapped. Chicken, steak, or shrimp cabobs can be made the day before and wrapped on a tray.
So, when's the party?
p.s. pick me as best answer!!!!
on my calender 7 months is november and i don't know about where you are, but november is DAMN COLD! however if you happen to live in an area where november is a bit more mild than don't worry about it. especially if you know you're going to have a BBQ a good BBQ takes a day tops to plan for. food drinks music FRIENDS and since it's a b-day... cake. what's so difficult. brats, burgers, dogs, chicken maybe, grilled corn is a nice touch or kebobs, get some coleslaw or potato salad a couple cases of beer nix that your only 20 soda and gayety will ensue until then i think you could do something better with the next 6 months 3 weeks and 6 days don't you. ok 1 day a couple of weeks before to write the invites...by the way it's RSVP not RSAP
2 kegs of odoul's and try not to laugh
BBQs are great! add some burgers, bread(*), tempura, chicken balls(add some spice), sausages, some cakes, sweets(puddings), and drinks! do you want a picnic-type, pool party, just resto party, home party..
if you want as a souvenir, give them cds(any videos u lyk or songs), a unique gift lyk handmade things...
happy birthday!
=)
Send out RSVP cards so you'll know how much to buy. Steak or burgers and chicken work for most groups. Then, the usual sides and a salad for any vegetarians. And, of course, a birthday cake for you. Lemonade, punch, tea & soda for drinks.
Make it a pot luck but have the main stuff like burgers, hot dogs, chips, soda, that kinda stuff and have everyone one else bring something
have a spread man top raman and veinna sasuge with nacho cheese chips add tuna fish and crackers
just ask them! but if you dont want to be taking orders, then just have chicken, ribs, steaks (just a few those are expensive) lol, hot dogs, burger patties and make sure some stuff is there for any vegetarian in your circle, corn potato salad, chips, dip . . .sounds like fun!!
shish kebabs!!!
made of vegetables, meat or seafood. There are really good, and for me, they are fancy. You can also make hamburgers, and garlic bread made off in the bbq. And to drink, cocktails!! They are very refreshing.
throw something on the grill, like Ribs, chicken, stuff like that. That's what we serve on the grill at our bbq's. also hamburgers too.
just pick a meat.. if they dont like it they wont eat
don't do chicken because it never gets done. I think bratwurst can be good there are different kinds or ribs. But if it is your birthday have every one bring something. Have a cook off with you and a couple other people be the judges In 7 month it will be October my birthday is the 6th of October. Make it a fall harvest BBQ have corn in its husk on the grill. or stakes or shishcobob.
