Question:

Looking for another word for elegant party or afternoon event?

developing a fund raiser for a non profit entity and want to call it a catchy name. Event would be Sunday afternoon outdoor setting with string ensembles, sundaes, possibly other foods and entertainment on a lazy Sunday afternoon, strolling in the park, dressed in our Sunday best.

An Afternoon on the the Grass Or
A soiree in the Park or
Dependent on the music repertoire: Mozart under the trees

Call it a Open Air Soiree or

Fete de Jardin (Garden Party)

(French for evening party but Americans don't know this)

Soiree is meant for an elegant evening gathering.
Just FYI

I will keep thinking though. Yours does sound more like a garden party.

How about "Sunday Sundae Fun-day" or for even more of a stretch "Sunday Sundae Fund-day"? Kinda lame but whatever I'm not going.

how about "ice cream social", a "summer tea", a "light buffet", an "afternoon refresher", a "ladies luncheon", a "picnic luncheon",, a "benefit box lunch" where the guys bid to buy a meal prepared by a special lady & they share the meal together - each lady makes their own special elegant basket or box lunch. Or how about a "hat & heels" party - all dress in fancy hats & high heels - this is even a hoot for guys to do!
