Serving Etiquette???!
Serving Etiquette???
From which side and with which hand should one serve drinks? Remove the drinks? Serve food? Remove food?
I know dinning etiquette, but what is the "waiters etiquette"?

Maybe I wasn't clear. I am in fact asking 4 questions;
1) from which side...serve?
2)& using which hand?
3)from which side remove?
4)& using which hand???

And does the same apply for drinks?

No, I'm not a snob.
I would like to pass a test for a fine dinning restaurant that asks the above questions upon interview.

Standing slightly behind the person
plate in right hand serve on the right side
To remove plate
Standing slightly behind the person
remove from the left side with your left hand.
Coffee cup and saucer should be picked up to pour the coffee. Pick up with the left hand and bring coffee cup and saucer out to at least past the persons shoulder... pour and return... same for water.
Should a spoon sit on the saucer then you do not touch.. say excuse me and pour where it sits.
What else?
Good Luck

Serve from the right, remove from the left.....unless you're in a tight squeeze, and then just get the darned things off the table whichever way you can!
Drinks should be served and removed from the right , and food from the left, if I recall correctly.
drinks on the right...food served from left side of the guest
Serve them at their right, Take from the left.
Remember this silly sex joke "Spooning leads to forking, forking leads to kniving" Hence, spoons are on the right, forks are on the left.
If your going through all this trouble to learn proper etiquette for searving and removing.....i hope your gonna be getting good tips.....people with money are so freakin uptight....who in the hell cares from which side.....atleast their getting their stuff.....my goodness!!
Serving and clearing with right hand from the right shoulder only. Only bread roll is to be served from the left where the side plate is. Trust me, i do this for a living.
You should serve from the right and remove from the left. This would be for fine dining. You won't see this at your neighborhood Frisch's Big Boy.

who cares just grab the stuff
You should always serve from the left of the recipient and remove from the right.
