Some of the best parties I gave for our teenage boys were treasure hunts. I gave them a website name, they had to go to that website. There, I put clues to the next spot they had to go. Once they had to look at something on the computer that they thought was blank, but they had to highlight it to change the text from white to a color they could see. I've left messages (tell them which number it is) on the phone answering machine with the next clue. Also, I've given them a video tape which has me talking to them. At the beginning of the video tape I kept saying SHHH and calling them by name! It was hilarious cause it was on TV and I knew ahead of time who would be there and that they would all be talking! That was a neat clue. Once at the end of the hunt they found cupcakes inside the hatch of my Jeep Cherokee. They have gotten treasure maps looking old and crumpled made of grocery sack paper. They have followed trails of pennies outside. They have found notes in the dryer and in the pantry. Make sure all ages stay together. Give them clues if they are stuck.
OH yeah--almost forgot a favorite...! One party near Christmas time I put a Little Debbie tree cake on my kitchen counter. Then I told them to move the wrapped cake to the breakfast table three feet away without touching it! They ended up building a makeshift bridge with spare wood and using a wind-up childrens trainset. They used duct tape and rubberbands and a burning candle to set everything into motion. Before hand, I told them that IF they used power tools my husband would have to help. BOY did their eyes get big when I said that. Needless to say, we've had exciting parties at our house. Some of the boys are in college now and they still talk about the parties 12 years earlier. Have fun, use your computer, make rhymes if you wish, and have them find something they would have gotten anyway...no real cost involved.

all party guest should play football

Who's the party for? Is it a birthday party? What are they into?

How about an outdoor carnival, have 3 legged races, plinko, squirt gun contests (squirt a ping pong ball off a bottle) drop clothespin in a jar, etc. Have some craft areas, decorate a t-shirt, make pennants(Made out of felt, deocate with foam shapes, decorate your own cupcakes, Get a plastic swimming pool, cut out paper fish, put paperclips on them. And have a fishing pole with a magnet. Have little gifts for each different color fish. (candy, pencils, etc) and have the kids 'fish' for prizes. Buy lunch sacks, crayons, markers, glue, glitter and have kids decorate their own Favor bag. For favors, their t-shirts, pennants, maybe a stuffed animal. (You can find cheap cutes ones in bulk at Orientaltrading.com) You can make the invites look like tickets. Have music playing etc. For food have hots dogs/ hamburgers on the barbecue, chips, potato salad, soda, other picnicy stuff. Hope this helps and have a good party!!!!!

How about an American Idol party? Party stores do carry the party packages! Rent a karaoke machine!
find three people that remind your guests of randy, paula and simon!

Good times!!

I'm a youth minister and have hosted many activites for preteens to teens. Anytime you can put people into teams makes for a more exciting party.

Here's some ideas:

Pirate party:
Give each guest a colored bandana and an eye patch or invite each guest to come in their favorite pirate costume.

Give prizes for the best costume

Divide guests into teams depending on turnout and have a scavenger hunt. This can be simple things they can find outside to answering questions about other guests.

Dread Pirate

Have teams construct a pirate ship out of
paper, old match boxes or any type of paper product, straws. Anything that will sink if it gets wet enough, but it has to float in the beginning. Get a small wading pool and fill it with water and have each team place their ships in the water. Designating on the ship team #1, #2, etc....so you know who's ship is in the water. Make a boundary line around the perimeter of the pool of 5 feet--mark it with duct tape so no one crosses the line when the battle begins. Give each team a supply of cannon balls (marshmallows.) Each member of the team gets a shot at trying to
hit the opponents ship and sink it. Whatever team's ship is still floating and in decent shape is the Dread Pirate. You need to designate someone who is not playing the game to be an official judge.

Last of all save those mini juice bottles that
have resealable juice lids. When all the guests are eating, slip out and put a bunch of these in the wading pool. Have guests choose a bottle. Each one will have a message in the bottle telling of the treasure they have found.
Take an old suitcase or a box and decorate it like a treasure chest fill it with some sand and put in all types of treasure. Guests will go to the
treasure chest to claim their prizes. Get inexpensive and funny ones at the dollar store or Oriental Trading (squirt guns, gold coin candy, gold mardi gras beads,etc...)
