What to serve for a Sunday afternoon party?!

Question:

What to serve for a Sunday afternoon party?

I often host Tupperware or Partylite parties on Sundays, in the early afternoon and I never know what to serve. Now that we're getting into the summer weather I'd like to do something light and tastey. Any suggestions?

Do you have to make a meal or can you just serve appetizers and a sweet table?

go onto yahoo recipes, they have very good stuff there. and they give rating so you dont have to worry about people not liking them.

Rice or pasta salad... You can put in whatever you like and it's really light and tastey. Or try hot pasta with cherry tomatoes and mozarella buffala. Tastes so good, you could live of it!

If there is a Costco near you, they have excellent crab salad and brushetta. It's cold and you don't have to heat the house up.

I really like marinated salads rather than rich mayonnaise-y salads for the afternoon (as well as any time--I hate mayonnaise). Try a simple salad of cucumber, oil, and vinegar with feta or couscous salad with tomatoes, squash, and shallot. Crudites with yogurt dip and nuts are always nice to have out at parties too.

How about finger foods? Some sort of small sandwiches like cucumber or maybe turkey club croissants? I would maybe try a velveeta, sausage, and salsa chip dip with Tostitos. Make lots of fingery foods. Mimosas would be great, too! Or how about doing brunch, even?

Fruit and cheese trays are always good.

Veggie tray or fruit tray and cheese and crackers or veggie spread and crackers.

Smoked Salmon and Dill Egg Salad Tea Sandwiches

6 eggs
2 ounces smoked salmon, finely chopped
2 teaspoons chopped dill
2 teaspoons nonpareil capers
1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
14 slices sturdy white sandwich bread
1/4 cup chopped chives, for garnish

Place the eggs in a saucepan and cover with cold water. Place over high heat and bring to a boil. Boil the eggs for exactly 4 minutes. Remove from the heat and let sit 10 more minute before draining. Run under cold water and peel the eggs immediately - the shell will come off much more easily while the eggs are still wet and warm.
Using a box grater, grate the eggs on the shredder side into a bowl. Add the salmon, dill, capers, 1/4 cup of the mayonnaise, salt and pepper. Mix well.

Lay out 7 slices of the bread and spread 1/4 cup of the egg salad onto each slice. Cover with the remaining bread slices. Trim the crust off of all the sandwiches and cut each sandwich crosswise into four triangles.

Spread the long side of each triangle with a little mayonnaise and dip each one into the chopped chives. Arrange decoratively on a platter.

This time of year a backyard bbq would be great. You could smoke the meat early in the day so it is ready by the time your guests arrive. Serve with simple sides like potato salad, baked beans, coleslaw, pasta salad, etc.......Dessert could be some tasty fresh fruit such as cantelope, watermelon, peaches, grapes.......What time does it start & can I bring a dish to help out???

payote and mushrooms with beer
