That sounds like so much fun! Have a theme. It always helps the creative juices to start flowing. I have always dreamed of a mystery party..... You could try www.partygirl.com. They have GREAT ideas, and you can ask questions too!

Have fun!

Like Unconditionally Loved said, have a theme related to the couple's interests. You can do a roast of the couple and include gag gifts, or have it at a fun place like a bowling alley. Put together a time capsule for the baby, and put together a journal, video, or poster filled with words of parenting wisdom.

I am 36 and was just recently invited to a baby a shower, and in my mind I was thinking "gosh, were going to have to play dorky games". I was very nicely surprised when they did not have any games at all.

They themed it a mexican dinner, complete with several very good mexican dishes, beer and sangria. No one played games, nice music in the background. Everyoen migled, had cocktails and chowed down.

The only traditional thing they had was the book of who bought what gift, which I was happy to help with and I didn't even know anyone when I walked in the door. Because we spent so much casual time together before presents, it was easy to get the names right.

Keep it smple, make the gusy comfortable and everyoen will enjoy themselves.

make sure you have a big enough hot water heater so that by the time the last couple gets in the shower they dont freeze. Better yet, host a couple hot tub event.
