What should I serve at this party?!
What should I serve at this party?
I need some ideas on things I can serve for a small gathering I am having this weekend. The age group is 22-25 years old, and we are all ladies. I just wanted to throw a little party at my house just to get the girls together, but I don't know what I should serve. I don't want pizza and chips, I want to actually make some delicious appetizers, snacks, and maybe a few main dish items. All suggestions are welcome! Thanks!

Pinwheels( flat tortilla, ham, cheese, make a dressing of shredded carrots, sour cream, cream cheese, add some chopped up chives. you lay the cream first then add your choice of cheese and lunchmeat and then roll it apply about four toothpicks and cut along to make four to five pieces)
Also buy salad packets about three add your own cucumbers, onions, blue cheese and buy chicken breast meat that has been cooked at the deli, cut it up in small pieces and toss it in the salad.
For a main course make a baked ziti, cheese, ziti, tomatoe sauce and chopped up fresh spinach and bake.
This will fill up your party people and keep them happy throughout the party. Plus it fun food.
Remember keep it simple you don't wan t to be stressed out with too much cooking becasue your would not enjoy your night with your friends.
When my frends and I get together for girl time (we're in our early and mid twenties) we rely heavily on the deli section of the supermarket. We buy olives, hummus, nice cheeses. We alsp buy good crackers, bread, and/or pita chips to serve with it. Then we make a few things on our own. Last time we did a roasted red pepper and feta spread andskewers of grilled chicken and pineapple.
hot wings, pigs in a banket, you could buy a shrimp ring, you could buy or make a veggie platter. you could make bake ziti or lasagna
Cheese Roll.
Get some sliced sandwich bread and spread with butter or margarine.
Add grated tasty cheese to the middle third and fold one side over the filling, and the other over the top.
Squash down with the edges underneath.
At this stage they can be wrapped in glad-wrap and put into the fridge for later. They can be put into freezer bags and frozen.
Heat the griller in the oven and toast both sides. Spread with softened softened butter.
Use a sandwich press if you have one.
Use fresh bread as it will fold better. I prefer white.
If you can get a Caterers loaf you can make several at a time. (it is sliced length ways)
That bread also is good for club sandwiches. Four slices of bread buttered and separated by ham, mashed egg and sliced tomato seeds removed and quartered.
Have fun
How about a tapas party? It's like all the great food, but upscaled! I have a tapas book here if you need ideas...
I would do some chocolate covered strawberries. I served them at my last all girl get together and they loved it! Pair it with some wine or champagne and you cant go wrong :o).
for dessert try,
hazel nut cookies
1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup chocolate hazelnut spread (recommended: Nutella)
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
In a medium bowl combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
In another medium bowl combine the butter, chocolate hazelnut spread, sugar, and brown sugar. Using an electric mixer, cream the ingredients together, about 4 minutes. Add the egg and vanilla and beat until smooth, about 1 minute. Using a wooden spoon or rubber spatula, stir in the flour mixture until just combined. and stir until just combined.
Using a tablespoon measure, spoon out the cookie dough onto a cookie sheet, spacing the mounds about 4 inches apart. Use the tines of a fork to flatten the cookie dough. Bake until lightly golden around the edges, about 10 to 12 minutes. Use a metal spatula to transfer the cookies to a wire rack and let cool.
All ladies would call for lite.Salad bar with nice bowls to hold things.A basket with breads, crackers or dressings it would look nice. You can also make a taco bar.Do some pinwheel snacks, celery with cream cheese and chives, pretzels with cheese--pineapple--olives---me... chunks(no waste eat the pretzel)If you choose the salad bar have some chopped chicken, ham or turkey to make it a meal.Have fun and relax whatever you serve they will love. Thanks for 2.
On top of a few home made appetizers, I usually serve store-bought appetizers. For example mini quiches that you bake in the oven.
Spinich dip is my personal favorite (rye loaf emptied and filled with the dip).
