Food menu ideas for Crayon Birthday Party for 2 yr old?!

Question:

Food menu ideas for Crayon Birthday Party for 2 yr old?

I've decided on making my daughters 2nd bday party a Crayon Bday Party. Basically everyone gets crayons and markers (washable of course) and they get to scribble all over a nice big white piece of paper. I'm sure it will keep them occupied but now I need some interesting food suggestions for the menu. There will be kids ranging from 2-10 and obviously there parents which will be mainly family. Thanks in advance

First of all birthday cake: Costco has the most amazing birthday cakes...they are cheap and delicious! I always get mine there...the chocolate kind. If not here's a great idea (and artsy too) to make your own birthday cake. Buy three boxes of ready mix cake, bake them separately and add frosting (you can make your own colors by buying regular cream cheese frosting and stirring in a bit of food die). Buy several bags of different candy such as gummy worms, sour patches, candy corn, mints...any candy that looks fun and is colorful. Set each type of candy around 2 of the cakes (which right now is only covered with boring icing) and tell the kids that they get to decorate the cakes for the party with the candy. This is good most kids over the age of 3. The third cake you can just decorate yourself with th ewords "Happy Birthday" and your child's name. This will be the cake with the candles for your child to blow on.
We did this for my niece's party...there were about 12-15 children...they had fun and they all wanted to eat the slice/part of the cake "they" decorated.

Now for the food:
Frozen posicles: While the kids are painting and drawing with their crayons, have a cooler next to them with frozen popsicles. Have different colors and fruit flavors...this way they can snack while they finish their artwork.

Peanut Butter and jelly sandwiches: Make lots of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and slice them in four (make sure you cut away the crusts).

Mini pizzas: What kids don't like pizzas? Costco sells frozen mini pizzas which are a little bigger than a silver dollar. If you want to make your own, I would recommend you use baguettes rather than sliced bread because its more firm. Bagels are not that great of an idea because they can be really hard for little kids to chew.

Hot Dogs or Corn Dogs: What kids don't like them? They are also cheap and easy to make and you can buy frozen corn dogs which are pretty good!

Last but not least make sure you have have lots of chips and dip for the older kids to much on!

Good luck!

I would go with finger food, cut up like crayons. Ham, cheese, jello molds, little toasted crayon shaped breads. I am sure you have already found the cute crayon candles. Two year olds love finger type foods.

Two words: Finger foods.

Unless you want to spend the day wiping faces and wielding a spoon, go for yummy grapes, berries, (and other cut fruits), cheeses, small franks or vienna sausages, chicken nuggets, and so on.

This will allow little hands to feed themselves while they doodle!

Oh! And a nice punch made from a clear soft drink with pineapple or orange juice will keep shirtfronts and carpets free of accidental stains!

Best wishes!

I'd keep it to finger foods for all... chicken nugget or strips (home made would be best), little sandwich favorites cut in halves or quarters with the crusts cut off. You can make several different kinds (including peanut butter & jelly) so that adults and kids alike can enjoy them. I would suggest cold cuts, tuna salad to name a few. And fruit salad and chips or some crunchy, snacky food. Sauces for the chicken for dipping too if you like. I'd keep it simple.

Or, depending on where you are (the weather) and if you have help... hamburgers and hot dogs and maybe chicken with a macaroni or potato salad, and chips, etc.

From the sounds of things you don't really have to worry about the menu for the children because they will probably just eat the crayons (because that's what two year olds do) but if by chance they want real food maybe a bunch of finger foods, hot dogs, crackers, cheese, chicken, and pizza for teh older kids and adults hell I don't know what does your two year old like to eat

maybe some hot dogs with tatar tots, pizza snacks, with some gold fish crackers, and oh! maybe a cake shaped like a crayon!!!

U can not go wrong with finger foods.

A great and healthy party food for kids (and the superbowl too) is fresh air poppped popcorn made with no oil. Those machines only costs about 5 dollars but they are great.Though it is always good to add I tablespoon of a healthy oil(olive, corn, canola) that way the salt sticks on the pop corn. You can try to make your own healthy version of the old fashion sweet popcorn.Put in a pan 1 tablespoon of corn oil let it warm , then add 1cup of brown sugar and half a cup of honey let it warm in the pan until the sugar melts but do not let it boil just until the sugar melts.Add this to your batch of popcorn and let it cool in room temperature if you wish you can also add peanuts or wallnuts to the mix , it is a healthy and delicious treat for kids and adults. If you do not have the machine always use a brand or make your own keeping in mind to use a healthy oil(corn,canola,olive,etc.).En...

How about M&M's for centerpiece decoration. Here is a cute photo.

This is a great way to make jello in many different colors.

I would also serve a fruit tray with strawberries, watermellon, cantelope, kiwi, grapes, honey dew melon, pinapple, and fruit dip.

As for food, I would keep it simple and serve hotdogs with ketchup and mustard. Chips with as many different colors as possible.

Maybe have an ice cream bar, or just serve rainbow sprinkles with your ice cream.

A cute take home gift is to make your own coloring book. Copy pictures from your child's favorite character and change the words on each page to be about your child.

Try some pigs in a blanket, stuffed wieners(with mashed potatoes and cheese)pretzel sticks with cheese-olives-ham-or turkey stuck on them.sandwiches cut into 4's.chips and dips.Fruit chunks.Hope this helps.

kids love hotdogs! cupcakes, chips, punch- not soda, icecream, cookies etc. should be fine.

I love that idea. Seems very easy and something all kids can enjoy. I was thinking maybe the kids could "paint" some white bread with brush and water/food cloloring mixture, and make sandwiches out of their creations. I may have to steal this idea from you sometime.

You might want to think of getting little finger foods for them. You now just something simple like cup cakes, cookies, jello, fruit, etc. You might want to think about dried fruit ( I think that they are called Crasinberrys, or Crasins). If you really want to "WOW" the other moms (as well as the kids) you should make every food that you can the shape of a crayon (even little finger sandwiches.Good Luck!!!!!!!!
