Graduation Party Ideas?!

Question:

Graduation Party Ideas?

Well right now I am trying to figure out the dillemma with the food for my graduation party. I need something that almost everyone would eat, but does not cost a lot. I have the availability of numerous big crock pots, and roaster, and such...a few ideas that were suggested to me where meatball subs, with salad and such but just throwing this question out there to see what everyone out there has to say thanx.

Answers:
The best buy for the money is BBQ (sloppy joes). But, a better crowd pleaser is Roast Beef Sandwiches. You can buy it at the grocery store, or buy the sliced beef and add beef broth, green peppers, sliced onions, Italian seasoning, salt and pepper. I would say this is more of a crowd pleaser than meatball subs.

Pasta Salad
Potato Salad
Chips and Salsa
Chocolate Trifle
Brownies
Salad
Taco Dip

Everything can be made ahead of time too.

why not like a buffilo chicken dip or somthing like that

sloppy joes or pork BBQ and potato and pasta salad are things people would expect to see that you could pull off cheap with the equipment you have.

you definitly have to have some kind of dip and a salad bar.... everyone loves those!!!!!

try buying a four pound bags of hot wings and deep fry them all the day before and make hot sauce on 2 bags like buffalo sauce and othter 2 bags use bbq sauce
and just reheat them the day of event
buy potato chips like lays regular and prezels regular
buy onion dip and ranch dip
buy a sheet layer ice cream cake
make betty crocker or philsbury cup cakes with white icing and or pink and sprinkle with jimmies and m&ms
put out a bowl of lettuce with italian dressing already in the mixture and cherry tomatoes already blended in
try getting a grill and make burgers hot dogs cheap brand
try making potato and pasta salad two nights or day ahead and leave out for people to pick from
make deviled eggs

congrats on your graduation ;-)

You can do meatball subs, but i am not sure that is really a food that is universally loved. But if you did decide to do it, you could prepare the meatballs, sauce, cheese, etc. in advance, and just assemble the sandwiches either at the party or right before. And, the meat would be pretty cheap.

If you do that, I would suggest also having chicken available in case any of your guests don't like red meat. Here's a great jerk chicken recipe. It doesn't really go with the meatball sub idea, but you could serve it with sweet and sour meatballs (served as an appetizer or with rice), which you could have going in the crock pots (link to recipes).

3 large brown onions, sliced thin
1 whole garlic clove, diced
1 1/2 quarts soy sauce
1 1/2 Tbsp powdered ginger
1/3 cup honey mustard
1/2 cup brown sugar
Juice from 1/2 lemon
3 whole chickens cut up (or 10 legs with thighs attached)

Make the marinade by mixing the first 7 ingredients together. Marinate the chicken pieces for 30 minutes, covered in the refrigerator. Barbeque and continue to baste with the marinade while turning.

Fun, simple, pretty cheap, and themed.
