Questions about throwing a Graduation Party...?!

Question:

Questions about throwing a Graduation Party...?

How does a graduation party work? How long should it last? Is an outside party a good idea? Who should be invited? When should invitations be sent out? How many should be expected (%)? Should invitations be sent with graduation announcements or seperate?I would like to have one in June, but I have no idea how to set everything up...

Answers:
alright this is a lot at once but don't get too stressed out over it. you should start planning now definitely.

people usually rent tents and tables/chairs and put them in the backyard. there should be a sign or something out in the front of your house or balloons for people who havent been there before.

the amount of time they last can vary depending on who and how many people you invite. the parties can be anywhere from 3-6 hours (most are usually 4). family can linger for a bit, while friends stop by for a shorter time because they have other parties to go to also.

all of your family should be invited, along with all of your friends and if your parents are close to theirs, then your friends parents should also be invited. dont forget about neighbors or any family friends that you have.

invitations should be sent out as soon as you can. and to make it easier, send them along with the announcements. some people choose to put a senior picture with it if they ordered a lot.

most people i know get caterers for food for the guests to make cooking easier.

dont forget to set up some kind of album or posters with your pictures growing up and various achievements so guests can look at them.

i hope this helps! good luck!! and have fun! if this is for high school, i hope you enjoyed it, but to be honest...college is waaay better!!

Its a lot like any other party but instead you are celebrating your graduation. Mine lasted 9 hours I don't know if that was normal or not started at 3pm went on til midnight (started at 3 for those that wished to use our pool). It was outdoors but we lived in the country no worries about the neighbors. You can have RSVP with the invites to the party ask them to RSVP by a certain date so you can plan the food and refreshments. You COULD send them out with your invitation or you could send them separate just depends on your preference. My college graduation party was a little different started later lasted til ppl either fell asleep, passed out or went home.

I am having a grad party this year for my daughter. We rented a nice hall where it will be air conditioned if needed. Some people have parties at their home, but mine is too small to accommodate everyone. I have our party as an OPEN HOUSE..come anytime between 1-4. I think 3 or 4 hours is plenty long if you're serving food. ( I am serving food) Invitations should be sent to relatives, neighbors and friends of the family, your church, etc. Also invite school friends. Invitations should be sent out at least 3 weeks prior to the event. I enclose party announcements with the graduation invitation. I only send grad. invitations to close relatives though. You can send your grad party invitations to the rest of the ppl if you dont have enough graduation invitations to go around.

High school graduation?Lasts 4-6 hours. If you have the home that can accomodate friends and family-have it at home(parking, seating, food preparation and presentation),also consider weather conditions.Invitations should be sent to family and out of town people two weeks before-can be sent with announcements. Most reception halls are booked a year in advance, but ask about Sundays or Thursday nights, and you might luck out and even get a discount.
