Be sure to give specifics on how to dress and what to wear, or bring an extra set of clothes to change into.

strippers male and females....lol...you guys will loveeee it

Why don't you pair up your friends and have them all dress like famous people or characters from movies : like Cinderella & The Prince, Romeo & Juliet , Danny & Sandy, Laverne & Shirley, Paris & Nicole etc. Then ask each pair to prepare a skit to preform at the party.. make a menu on what you would like to serve at the party and ask your friends to all pitch in and bring something from the list (chips, sodas, ice, paper plates, napkins, etc.) get a Dj for some music and enjoy. I did this as a teenager and we all had a blast. You can also prepare a backdrop with a birthday theme & your name and date and take pictures of all the couples & pairs in front of it. Like at a prom. Then develop pictures and send each person their picture with a thank you card. That makes a nice keepsake.

Have an all night "Lock in" Movie night. Rent 5-6 movies and play them back to back. Have popcorn, Goobers and other theatre fare to eat. If your folks are into it they could even dress up like "ushers". I think it was stated already you could have your friends dress like their favorite movie chanarcter to make it even more fun.
During "intermissions" have contests for best costume, who came the latest, best score on a Movie trivia test, stuff like that.

its been a long long time ago, sorry i dont remember what was cool at that age.
