How do you hold a cool party?!

Question:

How do you hold a cool party?

It's gonna be my sixteenth which isnt really a big deal but i want to hold a party. where do i begin, should it be themed, how many people should i invite, that sort of stuff... my house is relatively a good size so numbers shouldnt matter

Answers:
Seriously - all you need are some good friends, a good mix of people (from school, sports teams, church, or whatever) so that they can meet each other as well, and good tunes. Set up a huge bowl of punch (or whatever), some appetizers and let the night take it's course. It's good to have some activities set up - a poker table, ping pong table, foose ball - those types of things to keep people busy and give them something to talk about. I know where I live people at sixteen just want to drink...if that's the situation you are in I would recommend talking to your parents, have them take the keys of people you invite and sit in your basement and do so. If that's not your cup of tea, first I say good for you, but also I say to just create a relaxed party for people to chill.

get some booze

good music is a must and having a plan for entertainment is good, since you are 16 I would hope that you are not planning on drinking, so you should try some games like charades or something. as far as themes go they are fun if everyone participates, we always have theme parties, make everyone come up with their own super hero or super villain and dress up, or have a fiesta and get a pinata.

if you were a chick I'd tell you to hold a hawaiian party, but your not so that could be gay, unless you are gay then go for it. I would look into a beach style party preferably with a pool and some activites to do. Just don't make it structured. The best party you ever through will be for you but your will let the group of friends you invite mingle and do there thing. Just bounce around from click to click and make conversation and introduce people to onw another. this might be a first for you, but trust me, if you can throw together a party the I described it you are looking like the coolest 16yr old ever. It would almost be an adult party. Don't get booze. your gonna get a lot of people drunk and then there will be issues.

lighting is everything. the mix of people you invite will make all the difference. Dont make it too big. Have good food and good drinks dont forget the awsome music and you'll have fun. What I do is put decks of cards all about and note pads and pencils just in case phone numbers start aflying. I hope this helps some. Happy Birthday!

There is a terrific website called party411.com which has forums, answers to questions, themes, games, favors, cool signs, and lots of other things for any kind of party imaginable. It is the most popular party planning website there is. you can ask the Party Girl for advice if you're stuck. They sell tons of things for your party, and you can get excellent signage boards and invitations as well.

get a keg, make some jungle juice, call as many chicks as possible, get a big sack of doja, get a kiddie pool and fill it with jello or mud for chick wrestling, get a DJ and some big *** speakers and amp. warn your neighbors and be ready to run when the police come!

I've been there not too long ago. The key elements that no one realizes are gender balance, music, and environment. The balance should be as close to 50/50 as possible. As much as you might want way more girls, get a good balance because everyone feels more comfortable that way. The music is the easiest part. If you have an Ipod, letting your friends pick the selection is as good as anything. Here's the thing that you'd probably never think of, make sure the room is just a bit too small. Seriously. This forces everyone to talk and mingle. I know it sounds silly but I swear by it. every time I have a party I make sure, even if there are other rooms in the house, keep the food, music, game, or whatever in a room that is just a bit too small for the crowd. It's the interaction that makes a party and this is the best way to make it happen.
