Attending Halloween party?!

Question:

Attending Halloween party?

I'm going to a costume party event this evening and I would like to bring my host and hostess something Halloween-ish. The party is a large event that is being catered with a DJ and bartender. I was thinking of bringing a Pumpkin and "dressing" it up with glitter and curling ribbons hanging from the stem. Is this an OK hostess gift or do you guys have any better ideas? Remember that the party is being catered so bringing a dish is out of the question.

I like that idea of a decorated pumpkin! That's so creative and festive! I bet everyone including the hostess will love it.

It also sounds exactly like something a friend of mine would do, and she decorates and throws some really great parties.

in australia, we dont have halloween, but at partys, people either bring a bottle of wine, or candy, chocolate, stuff like that, i dont think i would like a pumkin as a gift

I looked around online, there are lots of sites with really cute ideas.

i would have a look at martha steward website for ideas. how about using the pumpkin as an ice bucket for a bottle of wine?

Well, you could clean the pumpkin out really really good and then dress it up like you wanted to and put chocolate inside like twix minis and etc... and put the lid back on and give it to her. Not only is it tasty to eat chocolate its stylish to get it in a pumpkin that dressed up. Halloween stylish I mean of course. I hope this helps!

i always liked to give my hostess candles, their are many Halloween kind and they also add to the occasion.i prefer scented ones.

The idea of a fun pumpkin is so creative!!! I would definietly do that. Otherwise, maybe just a bottle of wine, or some flowers. A lot of florists have fun looking flower arrangements for Halloween.

I like it when people bring me flowers, or pretty scented candles, or (before I got pregnant) a bottle of wine...
One of the best hostess gifts I ever got was a boardgame that a few of my guests got together to give me. It was Scattergories, we played it at the party, had a blast!
But it sounds like this party is a little more upscale than my last dinner....I'd go with a festive flower arrangement, or candles...but not halloween candles, they'll be in a box in a couple weeks! Give something more "fall-ish" so that they can be used for a while.
Your pumpking idea is great also, but think of something great to put inside - it's more of a vehicle for a gift than a gift itself. I like the other person's idea to use it as an ice bucket, just add a nice bottle of white!

That sounds interesting, but I bet a lot of people would bring pumpkins, try something original. What about a dusty old, talking skeleton?

i think that would be really fun you should stick decorated thumbtacks into it so you dont have to carve it but you can still stick stuff in it
