I am having a sweet sixteen...please help!?!
So my sweet sixteen is in April 2009 but I am planning it right now so I can have everything ready!. The theme is: Springtime in Paris and my mom is now thinking to just have it in the backyard-it's a nice sized one!. But I need help on what kinda of 'paris-themed' food I should get, some good decorations that are under $300 and any fun ideas that would make my evening even more special!. I thought about getting some plastic martini glasses and putting sugar around the rim and put lemonade in it!.!.!.putting lights around this walkway arch we have!.!.!.and having a mural near the entrance were they can take pictures and have a 'menu' set up by the buffet table in french and english!. Any thoughts!? Please tell me any ideas you may have, please and thank you!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Check out the website for The Oriental Trading Company for very low cost decorations and ideas first of all!. Here are some other ideas:
1!. This Christmas, invest in little white lights that are used for decorating Christmas trees and outdoors!. For your party, hang them in the greenery and around perimeters etc!.
2!. Not sure where you live, but April might bring "April Showers", so you might want to look into having a tent or an indoor alternative!.
3!. You'll need a dance floor, either creating one by rolling up a rug, or renting one!.
4!. Consider hiring a DJ if you can afford one, and if you can't, "hire" one of your friends to do the honors for your special evening!.
5!. Visit your local retail florist to get lots of "spring flowers" for tables!. You might also want to invest in linens, napkins (make napkin holders out of raffia and fresh flowers), real tableware and glasses!. If not, then there are some really nice fabrics you can purchase from fabric stores on sale etc!. for the tables!.
6!. Little candles and lanterns are a must have for at least the tables and walkways!.
Here are some menu ideas:
1!. Asparagas, cooked crisp tender and wrapped with prosciutto
2!. Loaves of french bread, good cheeses, and a country pate, sliced french ham, cornichons, dijon mustard etc!.
3!. Mini quiches, steamed crisp tender veges with an anchovie, garlic and oil dressing!. (bagna cauda)
4!. Roasted herb chicken, served cold or at room temperature
5!. Onion Soup in small cups with melted gruyere on toasted baguette slices!.
6!. Salad cups with goat cheese, butter lettuce, drizzled with a simple dressing of oil and vinager, dijon mustard, and chopped chives!.
7!. Mini desserts: creme brulee, fresh strawberries dipped in chocolate, chocolate mousse in shot glasses, fruit tarts etc!.
8!. You might want to create a "wine" for your guests by combining Cranberry Juice Cocktail with pommegranite juice, and serving it in wine glasses!. For 'white wine" drinkers, consider white grape juice with white tea!.
Anyway, good luck and remember, regardless of how it all goes, you're only 16 once so enjoy yourself!Www@FoodAQ@Com
