Hello
Tiered cakes are really hard if you're not sure what you are doing (i speak from experience!)
have you considered a cupcake tower instead!?
You can buy a cupcake stand on ebay quite cheaply!. I have an acrylic one but if you really want you can get a cardboard one and decorate it to match your cakes!
For the cakes, a really nice vanilla sponge is the easy and most impressive option!. I always add a glug of rosewater to mine because it gives them a really delicate floral flavour and a lovely, spongy texture!. For a great recipe, try www!.howtoeatacupcake!.blogspot!.com!. This is my favourite cake blog and the recipes are soo good! you can add rosewater to any vanilla cupcake mix, even a store bought one!.
some really impressive but simple decorating ideas:
Make a thick, fudgey buttercream using the base of 100g butter and 225g flour and a couple of drops of vanilla,!. Combine until fluffy and you have a basic, tasty buttercream!. You can add melted chocolate, orange essence, different colourings etc, whatever fits with your theme!
I love to perch real rose petals on my cakes!. They look super impressive but are really easy to make and really romantic for an anniversary!.
Buy a couple of roses that are in full bloom!. Pick coordinating colours for your theme!. carefully pull individual petals from the roses!. Using a small paintbrush, paint both sides of the petal with egg white!. Sprinkle liberally with granulated sugar and leave on a tray to dry!.
When the petals are dry, they go crispy and are completely edible!. perch one on top of big, dramatic swirls of buttercream that are piped onto the cakes using a large star tipped nozzle!.
Fill your cake stand with the cupcakes and scatter petals all over the stand and the table!. soooo gorgeous!
good luck and i hope this helps!Www@FoodAQ@Com

It is simple, just use 3 pans that are smaller than the next!. You can also get separators that graduate in size!. Or you can just stack them!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
