Any ideas for a child's birthday party with a frog theme?!

Question:

Any ideas for a child's birthday party with a frog theme?

My daughter is turning 8, she wants a Frog birthday. We were going to order her the stuff for the party but is very expensive. Does anyone have any ides for games they can play, activities they can do, and decorations for both the party and the cake. She loves Peace Frogs and since I am doing this "on my own" I think that would be really nice to do, but other than tracing the Peace Frog onto a cake I really don't know what to do. There will be kids ranging from 2 yrs to 16 yrs at her party because of friends and family. Any help and ideas will be appreciated.

Answers:
I don't know what 'peace frogs" are but I have some ideas.

16 year olds might want to help out or hang out but the littler kids are the ones who'll appreciate these things:

Buy a bunch of live frogs, they're cheap, at least one for each guest (and the adults too, you never know),and have a frog race, and then give the frogs to your daughter's guests as thank you gifts. The kids can keep the frogs or set them free in a place where other frogs normally live, maybe event their backyards.

Have a leap frog race, tying the kids ankles together and making them hop like a frog on all fours to the finish line.

Dark cupcakes decorated like flies.

Pin the fly on the frog.

Really play leap frog. Make or buy froggie masks and have your guests wear them while playing the games, like jumping through a hoop or crawling under a limbo rope.

Musical lilly pads. Just cut out some foam, you can buy rolls from a craft store pretty inexpensively, and soak them in a tub of green dye.

Have your daughter's father be a frog prince.

Hold the party outside near a lake, with plenty of adult supervision of course. Dangle homemade flies, butterflies and ladybugs from the trees and bushes.

Have croaking on a tape playing in the background. Better yet, play Kermit's song, 'It isn't easy being green".

Have a croaking contest, adults included, what a crack up.

Have your guests make frog hand puppets out of felt and glue, or punch holes around the edges so that they can thread yarn through and 'stitch' them together quickly and safely. They can wear them and play pick up games, like picking up pennies or dropping the clothespin into the bottle, while wearing the gloves.

Fill two or three small jars with chocolate covered flies (raisins?) and make the kids write down guesses as to how many are in a jar and then give the jar to the winner. Do the same with worms or whatever other buggy candy you can find.

You might want to host a birthday sleepover the night before your daughter's party. You could provide the materials for all the decorations, frog masks, felt froggy gloves, the bugs that you want to decorate the trees or bushes with, etc., and have your daughter's little friends make them all up the night before and then help you set up the next day. By the time the rest of your guests arrive for the 'real' birthday party, your daughter and her friends will really feel like this is a special party because they were such a part of making it all come together. You might not get any sleep, but heck, sleep is overrated and birthday parties only happen once a year.

Have fun.

PS did I mention margaritas are green and might help ease the froggy daze you and your friends will undoubtedly reach?

You can cut out lily pads from cheap dollar store construction paper and hang them all over the ceilings/outside with fishing line (it's see through). You can also go to a dollar store and get a bunch of rubber frogs and have them layed out everywhere. You can get the sound of frogs playing in the background on a cd or tape. I'll have to think more about the games... I love planning theme parties.

for games the younger kids could play leap frog.
Serve a lot of green food too, like only green M&M's, frog juice (green Kool Aid), green jello, etc.

You can make the jello in individual cups and have the kids compete to see who can slurp the frog juice the fastest using a straw.

Just a few ideas. Hope these help.

Definitely try to use lots of lilly pads cause their easier than frogs! How about a lilly pad cake with on piece cut out to make that cute little pacman shape? and neon-green party supplies are easy to come by...also pin the fly on the frog's tongue? Maybe you should google it...they have awesome party ideas!

There is a company called SANRIO, its Japanese and they used to have a character called Keropi or Keroppi, which was basically a boy frog. They had a lot of gifts and simple toys with it on them. They also make the Hello Kitty stuff.

Other than try making cupcakes with green frosting, cookies with green sprinkles.

Have cheap green birthday hats, and decorate them with cheap froggie stickers from the 99 cents store.
Have a leap frog contest with those green lilly pads made out of cheap construction paper and tape string on it to make it a hat.
Try to find a cheap frog cookie cutter or tracer and use it to make frog shaped sandwiches,
That's all the ideas i have right now, but I hope it helps. Hope yall have fun!
