Beach Party ideas?

I need ideas for a beach-themed party for 10 and 11 year-old girls. Maybe sometime around the 4th of July....

Thanks for your idea Jimithy, but remember, these are 10-11 year-old girls who most likely listen to rap, pop and hip-hop. The party will be at our neighborhood beach and will probably only be about 10 girls.

I like idea for limbo, volleyball, charades, collecting seashells(contest for the prettiest shell )get a couple kites, frisbee and paddle ball. The girls in my family love the rub on tattoos or face paint and leis would be fun for them to wear. party favor ideas: sunglasses, friendship bracelets, flip flops, or lip balm.

Food could be fruit kabobs, firecracker popsicles, chips, pretzels, pizza, sandwiches, lemonade and soda.

If you have it around the 4th, you could follow the patriotic theme with red white and blue, & stars and stripes with your decoratons, cups and plates. Or you could do the luau theme. Oriental Trading company is a great site for party favors.

Have fun planning!

You can't have a beach party without a band that does 60s rock. Find a local band that specializes in oldies music. Fun time for all!

It doesn't matter what they mainly listen to, everyone loves oldies rock and roll.

maybe kind of hawaiian themed, with the grass skirts, tiki torches, and those cute little umbrellas to go in their sodas.

they have all sorts of stuff you can get for a low price... lots of summer-themed stuff too.

I would do lots of games! the water-balloon toss, maybe some kind of game where you have to aim at stuff with a water gun. kids that age love getting prizes, so you should have some of those ready to give to the winners.

for food, lots of fruit like pineapple, watermelon, and strawberries would be great and healthy, and make it feel extra summery.

ummm... there should be lots of water activites. maybe get one of those slip n/ slides if you dont have a pool available?

hope this helps you start brainstorming! it sounds like itll be fun!

*edit** oh, hmm.. at your neighborhood beach huh? then no slip n' slide is necessary!

maybe some kind of obstacle course game, where they have to hula-hoop a certain length of time, run into the water and find a seashell, come back and bury a team-member in the sand...! that would be fun and exciting!

MUSIC
Use beach themed "oldies" music:
Frankie Avalon
Annette Funicello
Beach Boys
Partridge Family
Franki Valli
Donna Loren
- You can probably find some cheap mixed cd's at places like Walmart, Target, K-mart

GUEST PARTICIPATION
1) Get cheap beach towels, sunglasses, and flip flops to hand out.
2) Ask the girls to wear bathing suits (preferably bikinis as that was popular then), big hair w/ headbands, frosty lipsticks and eyeshadow (if mom's will permit).

ENTERTAINMENT/ACTIVITIES
1) Do a dance off or just a free time dance w/ dances like the hand jive, mashed potato, the twist.

2) Have hula hoops, frisbees, and beach balls to toss and play with.
3) Hula hoop contest
4) Coconut Bowling
Place a bowling pin in the center of a hula hoop on the floor. Using coconuts for bowling balls, try to roll the coconut into the hoop without knocking over the pin.

Anyway, have fun, and good luck!

Oriental Trading Co, or any party store, even big drug stores like Longs have all sorts of Hawaiian themed merchandise this time of year. You might consider hiring a teacher of Hula, teen girls love that. Check with your Chamber of Commerce for local dance schools.

Have volleyball with a beach ball, limbo!
Have an "All American" theme red, white & blue, statue of liberty hats, serve hot dogs, chips, dip, mac. salad & plenty of soda!

Get a beach ball for each girl and have everyone sign it, a 99 cent reminder of the day. Borrow TONS of beach toys, pair the girls off and have a sand castle building contest, have a prize and category for each group of girls -- best overall, best fixer upper (ie the one that fell over), most detail, most imaginative, most accessories (shells, feathers, etc).

Serve drinks in bottles (like water bottles with individual packets of crystal lite or kool aid added) to keep from everything having sand in it.

oriental trading company as super cute invitations that are in glass bottles like the way people used to leave notes. Have a treasure hunt with a map (burn the edges). Hide clues all over the beach, lead them back to the car where you are hiding the cake and ice cream (or whatever you are having).

This sounds like a lot of fun, hopefuly your daughter has a blast :)

oh, I am adding something ..... get a couple of disposable waterproof cameras so the girls can take some pictures too

Have you checked out Party City for all the great luau party decorations they have there? They are only pennies more than Oriental Trading, plus you save shipping.

I just had a beach party for my one year old. I burned a cd with ocean sounds for music. The older kids played limbo. We had a couple of beach balls for them to play with. Women's Day magazine had a recipe for a cute cake with a blue jello ocean. Besides the regular balloons and streamers I got sand buckets for all of the tables and made little direction signs to stick in them. There is a site online you can find the distance between any two points. So I looked up lots of differant beaches. At the end of the party All the guests signed one of the snad buckets with a sharpie, so he has something to remember it by when he gets older.
