I'll be 28 this coming July, any idea for a beach party?!

Question:

I'll be 28 this coming July, any idea for a beach party?

It'll be hot in the beach but I want to still blow my birthday cake. I know all the frostings & cream will melt. Any idea please?

Answers:
Carrot cake w/ cream cheese frosting would work fine, but isn't everyone's cup of tea. A fruit tort w/ fresh fruit would be nice and light too. Finally, cupcakes can be maintained easier in a cooler till BDay time. Happy Birthday.

See the links below for party supplies for a beach theme...

For the cake problem, telephone the bakery in advance and explain your problem. They may be able to use a fondant icing to prevent or reduce melting. Fondant is what is used on wedding cakes to create a smooth work surface for elaborate decorative elements..i.e. rosettes, etc...

Also, see the recipe at the last source, it could be adapted using beach items instead of vegetables. This is good if you plan to bake your own cake.

you should make some smoothies with banana and different fruits. Then put the smoothie in those fancy cups with and umbrella or serve kabobs with fruits on it. Try something different .Or have the cake and ice cream and stuff come out after you guys have fun.or you can have people have fun outside and go in a place where they store your cake and get what they need.

EUREKA! I finally found the recipe that should work for you.

ONE PAN CAKE

2 1/2 Cups All Purpose Flour
1 1/2 Cups sugar
1/2 Cup Cocoa
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2/3 Cup vegetable oil
2 Tbsp. cider vinegar
1 Tbsp. vanilla
2 Cups cold coffee
or water
1/3 Cup Sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Stir together flour, 1 1/2 cups sugar, cocoa, soda and salt in an ungreased 12 x 8 [rectangular cake pan] inch baking pan.

Make 3 wells in the mixture; pour oil in one; vinegar in one and vanilla in one.

Pour in coffee and stir all with a fork until well mixed. Spread into an even layer.

Combine 1/3 cup sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle half over batter.

Bake in a 350 degree oven for 35 to 40 minutes (or until it tests done with a toothpick). Sprinkle remaining cinnamon sugar over hot cake. Cool 15 to 20 minutes before cutting.

Makes 6 to 8 servings.

It looks sort of sandy...and tastes a bit gritty. It is very good...it will hold candles...and should travel well in a rectangular cake pan with lid.
