I am hosting a housewarming party for my daughter and I don't know anything about them, any suggestions?!

Question: I am hosting a housewarming party for my daughter and I don't know anything about them, any suggestions!?
Answers:
Every housewarming party I have given or been too usually has a 2-3 hour span so people can come in and out when they want to!.

I find foods that you can keep out on the counter best or in a crockpot so you aren't spending all your time in the kitchen!.

also bowls of dips and such can be kept in a bigger bowl with ice to keep cool or even ice packs!.

I like to keep foods simple and to the kitchen!. Non messy drinks or easy to clean ones!.

Lemonade, iced tea, water

Pizza because it can be kept out for hours and usually is a huge crowd pleaser

Salads of different kinds

chips and dip and veggies and dips are usually a given

little muffins or mexican cornbreads are really yummy

fresh fruit salad

Cupcakes, brownies, cookies!? That type of thing!.

One hit at one of the parties I did was take a huge loaf of french bread and cut it in half and made a mixture of mayo, sharp cheddar cheese, diced mild green chilis and spread it on the bread and baked it!. You can also do this with chili, but with a housewarming I tend to stick to things that won't stain!. No tomato based products, no grape or fruit punches!. Nothing is red dyes!. They are almost impossible to get out!.

Most of all have lots of fun

Oh and quiches are fun too!. You can make different kinds in big casserole dishes and these can be kept out for awhile!.

Oh oh oh almost forgot if you want an appetizer thing what is fun is to take your mini muffin tin and line them with either a pizza crust or croissant - in the frig aisle and bake and fill with anykind of goodies you want from bbq pork or beef which Llyods makes in the meat section, diced ham, cheese, and egg mix, you can also do sweet ones with a sweet cream cheese and fruit mixture!. I think it's sweet to host one for your daughter!. We wanted one but felt awkward saying "we bought a new place, come bring food and celebrate us!." So we didn't do one!.
It is much more natural coming from a friend or family!.

I would stick to the basics, fruit tray, veggie tray, chips, dip!. If you want a lot of people there you may want to extend the menu to little smokies, etc!. If you want a sit down meal, make it something that is easy for all!. If striving for simple and casual, buy a few buckets of fried chicken and make it an end-of-summer themed housewarming party!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Invite your (hers actually) guests to bring a potluck dish, the recipe and bring it in a container that is meant as a gift for her!. Like a nice casserole, or a cake on a nice cake plate, or a pitcher of mimosas,
etc - you get the idea!. Even drinking glasses can hold parfait-type desserts!.

This means of course that you and maybe a few enlisted helpers would need to stay and help wash all those new gifts!. But this way, the food is taken care of, she gets useful items with ideas of how to use them, a new set of recipes, and all her freinds and family around to help celebrate the new place!

Have fun! And Congratulations to your daughter!

Finger foods would be the way to go!. Balance the food with sweet and not!. Nice little luncheon plates and matching napkins!.

Fruit Pizza is awesome!.!.!.!.!.

Make a pizza crust out of sugar cookie dough!. Bake as directed on a pizza pan!. When cooled top with the following;

Sauce (cream cheese, what ever flavor you like and one small jar of Marshmallow cream or vanilla yogurt mixed together)
Toppings;
Kiwi, sliced strawberries, Mandarin oranges, or whatever fruit you like!.

I would go with general party standard foods like a vegetable tray with dip, fruit tray, maybe some cocktail sausages or meatballs, some chips and dip, things like that!. Alcohol is really up to you, you can just go with sodas and tea and things like that!. Unless it's a formal dinner party in which case I would ask if they have any special diet needs!.!.!. kosher, vegetarian, vegan, etc!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

how old is she!? not to get personal but when your younger you really dont want parents or adults around you to much,i would suggest small portions of fruits some chips and like sodas, vitamen water is healthy and delicious, dont be a health freak tho!.!.!. everyone hates it when your asked to eat something that you hate but its rude to say no dont ask to many questions!.!. and donnnnnttt dance or talk about number 2 !.Www@FoodAQ@Com
