1) Pin the Wart on the Witch’s Nose: Draw or photocopy up a big picture of a witch; get lumps of green play-dough, blindfold each child and let them put a green wart on the witch’s face.

2) Apple bobbing is the traditional Halloween game. Float apples in a bowl of water, each player must try to get an apple with their teeth while their hands are held behind their backs. (This can get messy)

3) Traditionally on Halloween night, if you peel an apple and throw the skin over your shoulder and it will form the initial of the person you are to marry. You could peel the child’s apple once bobbed and see if it resembles a letter.

4) Another variation is to hang the apples on string and the players have to eat the apple again without touching it. Problem: Unless you grow your own apples they rarely have stalks still attached. You could try this game with ring doughnuts, bagels or ring biscuits.

5) Musical Zombies: Find some suitable Halloween Music - Saint-Saens’ ‘Danse Macabre’ goes down well with children, but if the kids are a bit young you could use ‘Fossils’ from his ‘Carnival of the Animals’ - and play this version of musical statues. Instead of dancing the kids pretend to be zombies then stand still when the music stops.

6) Wrap the Mummy: tear up strips of an old sheet and see who can wrap up their friend the fastest.

7) Sleeping vampires: Quieten things down with this version of sleeping lions, they all have to lie silently in the crypt; the one who stays still the longest is the winner.

rice crispy cakes, put some coloured marsmellows in the mix while hot and they go stringy like spider webs

you should do like a sort of soup with spagetti in it and call it worm soup

Witch finger rolls.
Cut the crusts off wholemeal bread & flatten the slices with a rolling pin. Spread with peanut butter, jam or pate & roll it up so it's shaped like a finger (squeezing in the finger tips). Make the knuckles creases by placing the back of a knife halfway down the 'finger' and add an almond, painted with black food dye, for the finger nail. We used these for a party & they went down really well.

Here are some ideas from Martha Stewart. They do take this kind of thing rather more seriously in America so I hope that she can help you.

Mystery boxes. You tell them that there are scary things in the boxes and they have to put their hands in to feel and guess what the things are.
Spaghetti is worms or witches hair.
Pickled onions are eyeballs
jelly is intestines
cauliflower is brains

that sort of thing. Anything that feels gooey or gets the imagination going.

Roast Pumpkin risotto is fab for all - filling and tasty without needing meat.
Use food colouring to make things look a little wierd.
You could use wool to make a huge web on the ceiling and then dangle little paper spiders from it (works well if people have walk under it and the spiders brush their faces!)

To make your bucket of goo - use flour, water, a tin of spaghetti, a pack of jully, green water colour paint (don't use food colouring it stains their hands) and mix it together in a big bucket. Put mini chocolate bars into it.

For games you can do apple bobbing (a bowl of water with apples - the children have to get an apple without sing their hands), you can tie hot cross buns, tea cakes or doughnuts to string and get the kids to eat them without using their hands.

Musical bumps, statues, chairs, etc. Or for a spooky element Musical monsters - where children have to do there scariest monster action (no noise or moving once in pose) when the music stops - noise or movement means theya re out.

If you are doing food, use food colouring to make it into freaky foods, blue food colouring with beans or hot dogs is good. Red food colouring in lemon or orange squash is also quite good.

For the vegetarian's use vege sausages, or make vegetable kebab's, using onions, peppers, corn on the cob, mushrooms, cherry tomtoes, courgettes, etc.

If you're planning on using a barbeque - banana's in foil with chocolate and marsh mellows are good).

veg pulav,ghee rice,puri ,roti,with alu panneer.veg soups,crispy chips.

make fairy cakes and when you do the mixture add some food colouring to make it go a diiferent colour.
sometimes you can get thekits in shops which give you the icing for the top with a hallloween design.

you can make some smoothies using red coloured fruits to make it look like blood or make some punch!

you could just make normal foods but give them weird and spooky names!

for a game why not try filling a bucket full of water and putting apples in them and then the kids have to get them out with their teeth!
or why not fill a bucket full of spaghetti hoops in tomato sauce then putting some wrapped up prizes in them for the children to fish out!

good luck! :)

Halloween Games..........
Have a Costume Swap Party
Save money and have fun by having a pre-Halloween costume making/costume swap party. Invite all the parents and kids in your circle. Have everyone bring old costumes, or costume elements. Encourage creativity by letting the kids play dress-up. It helps to separate costume elements into piles such as wigs, hats, masks, dresses, pants, shirts, jewelry, etc. This a fun a party idea where parents get to visit, the kids get to play and everyone goes home with a new Halloween costume. You can also have crafts set up so kids can make their own masks, costumes or accessories.

Deviled vulture eggs - hard boil regular eggs, then, slightly crack the shells and put them back in the hot water with several tea bags for a few minutes...when you peel them, they'll appear "veiny". Cut and prepare as you would regular deviled eggs.

Boogers on a stick - melt a jar of cheeze whiz in the microwave, then add green food coloring and stir. Then dip large or small pretzel rods in the "booger" mixture. Let cool, serve upright in a tissue box.

How about a build your own mummy contest? Break the party up into teams, have each team select their "mummy" and have the other team members wrap the mummy up in toilet paper. Judge the finished results.
