How do I decorate for a Japanese Dinner?!

Question:

How do I decorate for a Japanese Dinner?

I'm doing a father's day dinner with Japanese food. I'd like to decorate in Japanese style. Any suggestions?

Answers:
Decorate your table with a centerpiece consisting of a Japanese-style floral arrangement (ikebana) or bamboo plants. Use very simple dishes in a solid color or with a simple Japanese motif. Give everyone a set of chopsticks. (You may want to provide forks for the uninitiated.)

Cover the table with a Japanese print fabric if your dishes are solid-colored, or with a solid color if your dishes have a Japanese motif. Use bamboo place mats under each place setting.

Inexpensive rice bowls, serving trays, and other accessories can be purchased at stores like Pier 1, Cost Plus, or at stores in a Japanese neighborhood of a big city.

If you sit on the floor, make sure the cushions coordinate with your table covering and dishes.

Lots of years in Southern California, where Asian culture is everywhere, and working in a company with lots of Japanese colleagues.

Go to Walmart/Target/Dollar Store and get some hang-up lanterns.
They're really cute.
And do red+black+white colors for a cute touch.
have everyone sit on pillows!
