I am gonna have my birthday at a resturant cause all of my friends do it, the birthday girl pays for the food but since i am inviting a lot of people that means a lot of money. my question is would they mind if just invite them to a cafe for a cake and drinks?
Answers:
It's your party and you don't need anyone's validation for doing what you want. If your friends don't like it, they're not your friends. Celebrating your day is what it is all about.
I do think the tradition of everyone getting together and the birthday person paying for everyone is a bit odd! It should be everyone pay for themselves and everyone pitch in for the birthday person.
i think they would love that ... everyone loves cake =]
If they are you true good friends then they would be happy with what ever you offer them.

I think if you went to a buffet or had a buffet style dinner at a resturant that would be nice.
The cafe idea is fine though.
