How much would you pay to rent a Chocolate Fountain for an event?
I received a chocolate fountain as a gift, and a friend suggested I rent it out. Its always a hit at birthdays, showers, anniversary parties, New Years eve etc. How much would you pay to rent:
just the fountain?:
Fountain plus attendant to prepare chocolate and fruits and to clean up, chocolate and dipping fruits included?:

it depends whether it was a personal one or a commercial standard fountain, and also who you would be renting it out to, friends or family in which case you cant really charge much as they are relatively cheap to buy these days. im not so sure its a money maker, especially if you are going to attend the function as well or pay someone to do it for you. just enjoy the chocolaty goodness for yourself!
We paid $400 for our wedding, but we had to buy our own products to dip. It was outrageous if the company brought their own, so there is a lot of money to be made. My wife and I have considered buying one ourselves.
buy one for $40 at costco and cut up your own fruit and put out some marshmallows. they really are easy to set up. The best chocolate comes from the cake and candy decorating stores, milk and dark mixed is best, 1lb for about $4 or so. These machines hold about 5 lbs of chocolate. YUMMMMMM!
you could buy one yourself and have people serve themselves or you can hire one and spend up to 400 dollars it all depends on how long the event is
I think it really depends on the size of the fountain you have. If it is large, you could charge alot.
To be reasonable say:
Fountain: $100
Attendant: $20/hr
Chocolate and fruit at cost you paid or add like 5% to cover cost of transportation and keeping it cold or whatever, so then maybe a total of 10% markup would probably be more reasonable. So if it was for a wedding reception scheduled to last say 3 hours you would charge $160 for the fountain and attendant. Then say the chocolate and fruit, etc cost $75, add $7.50 to that. Total cost would be $242.50. If you want to make money, the best thing to do would be the best deal in town, and in sources is a link to one of America's finest producers of dark chocolate, they are really good. I saw one at Walmart for less than $40 maybe or it might have been alot cheaper than that!
not sure if there's really any potential to make much money renting that thing out...people can buy their own for about $30-$50, so why would they pay the same (or more) just to rent one?
One thing to think about...if you are providing the food, prep and clean up, you are a caterer and can be liable if people get sick. So while it may make you some money renting it out, I'd stick to renting to close friends.
