Should I eat angel cake for my birthday?!

Question:

Should I eat angel cake for my birthday?

Hey, my birthday's coming up and I'm trying to stay relatively healthy. I'm fourteen and LOVE chocolate, but I'm thinking that maybe I should ask for angel cake this year to reduce the number of calories. I want to know, is the number of calories the only reason why angel cake is better? Is angel cake any good (I've never tried it)? Does it come in any flavors?

Answers:
What is angel cake?Does any Devil cake exist? : ) Sorry,I have no answer and I may waiste your time.

angel cake is soooooo good
i have no idea why it is healthy
you could always make chocolate angel cake

I have to say, Angel Cake is very good...light, fluffy, tasty, and you can eat a whole lot of it and not feel full like you're getting rolled out the door. Get the confetti kind!

Well, angel cake is healthy because for a slice it is only 160 calories and has no fat! Well, the Hostess ones don't. But... come on! it's your birthday! I say to get a chocolate cake and love every minute of it. Plus, angel cake is really plain and not as special for your birthday. Get a chocolate cake! Or... get a cake with more fruit on it than cake so that it's more healthy. =)

It's angel food cake and u could always have chocolate frosting!

Angel cake is light and fluffy- it would be tasty w fruit- and top w low fat cool whip= tasty- low fat and good for you!! D

Yea, it is really good!!!

Angel food cake is very yummy and it is much better for you. It's very light and sweet. You can even get it in chocolate. But it's not the kind of cake you would want to put icing on, and it's rather plain by itself. Think about having fresh strawberries and low fat Cool Whip on top. Very very yummmmyyyy!!!!!

Happy Birthday!!!!!!

I love angel food cake w/ light cool whip, fresh berries and just a drizzle of chocolate on top. Mmmm

you could or you could have a healthier then normal chocolate cake made.

Just do a web search for healthy chocolate cake and see what turns up.

happy birthday.........................

Angel Food cake is delicious! Here's a couple of recipes. The first is my Mother's no-fail recipe. The second has an jello/fruit filling with whipped cream topping. That one would be a great Birthday Cake! Pass these on to your Mom if she needs a recipe...

OLGA's ANGEL FOOD CAKE:
1 1/2 cups egg whites (10 to 12 large eggs)
1 1/2 cups sifted powdered sugar
1 cup sifted all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup sugar
Step 1: Bring the egg whites to room temperature, this will take about an hour.
(Room temperature egg whites beat up fuller and fluffier, which results in a higher cake) Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Sift powdered sugar and flour together 3 times. In a 3-quart or larger bowl beat egg whites, cream of tartar and vanilla on medium speed till soft peaks form. (tips curl) Gradually add sugar, about 2 tablespoons at a time, beating on high speed till stiff peaks form. (tips stand straight)
Step 2: Sift about one-fourth of the flour mixture over the beaten egg whites. Lightly and gently fold the flour mixture into the beaten egg whites. Repeat the sifting over and folding in of the remaining flour mixture by fourths. (Depending on the size of your bowl and the volume of egg white mixture you get, you may find the bowl gets too full as you're folding in the flour mixture. If so, transfer the mixture to a larger bowl)
Step 3: Pour the batter into an ungreased 10-inch tube pan. Use a metal spatula or knife to cut through the batter and release any large air pockets. Place cake on the lowest rack of the preheated oven. (This not only gives you room for the cake to rise, but also puts the top of the cake in the center of your oven---the best place to do any baking) Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until the top springs back when lightly touched. (The crust of the cake will be golden and slightly cracked) Immediately invert cake in the pan, standing the tube pan on its legs or resting the center tube over a tall-necked bottle. (leave the cake in the pan) Cool the cake thoroughly. Loosen the sides of the cake from the pan; remove the cake.
To serve, use a serrated knife to slice the cake into wedges.

STRAWBERRY SPARKLE CAKE:
1 Angel Food Cake
1 package (3 oz.) strawberry-flavored gelatin
1 cup boiling water
1 package (1 lb.) frozen sliced strawberries
1/2 pint (1 cup) whipping cream
2 Tablespoons sugar
Red food coloring
Place cake, widest side down, on a serving plate. Cut a 1-inch layer from the top and set aside. Cut around cake 1-inch from outer edge to 1-inch from bottom. Then cut around cake 1-inch from inner edge to 1-inch from bottom. Gently remove the section of cake between cuts, tearing it into small pieces; set aside.
Dissolve gelatin in water and add frozen block of strawberries, stirring to break up and mix berries. Fold cake pieces into strawberry mixture and pour it into cake shell. Place cake layer on top. Whip cream until thick peaks form. Stir in sugar and add a few drops of red food coloring until pink. Spread sweetened whipped cream over top and sides of cake.
Decorate with whole strawberries if desired. Refrigerate until served, at least one hour.

Angel food cake would be heavenly! You can add any flavor to it, any fruit would be scrumptious too! That is a wonderful choice for birthday or any celebration.

Angel food cake is made with no fat or egg yolks, so it is very low fat. But the fats in good chocolate are good for you. You can have angel food cake with a fondue pot of melted chocolate to drizzle over the cake. And some sliced strawberries or peaches to serve on the side as well.

Angel cake is very light, but its also very blah. You have to rely on putting something on it for it to have flavor. If you love chocolate, have a chocolate cake, but dont pig out on it. Happy Birthday!

Angel cake is good but you definitely need a topping like strawberries, raspberries or blueberries. I put it in the freezer for about 10 minutes then pour a touch of chocolate like heath shell on the berries then cool whip.

it is your birtday - eat anything you want

if you talking about angel food cake its really good but i dont know how many calories are in it. I think there is more in chocolate cake though. I know your trying to watch your calorie in take but you can thaw frozen strawberries and but them on and whip cream too!
