Jazz themed party?!

Question:

Jazz themed party?

I'm thinking of having a jazz themed party.

What colors go with that theme? Also, what should the decorations be? What kind of flowers should I display? Please feel free to give me all the details. Add something if you like.

*Please: Don't answer with "Oh boy! I love that idea!" or some other stupid and useless answer.

Royal purple, gold, emerald green... instead of flowers maybe get plastic instruments as a centerpiece... or sheet music of popular jazz songs framed on each table with votive candles around to set a peaceful, tranquil mood. If you need to have flowers, them purple violets and white daisies...

I would suggest going to a party store such as party city, grand events, party america any place like that in your area. They sell all sorts of decorations like that: plates, napkins, cups etc for that kinda thing. Once you buy your decorations then find flowers to match the decor.

Maybe do mardi gras decor - Beads, masks etc... Cajun food (jambalaya, gumbo etc..)and some great jazz music of course!

Martinis and tasty coctails to drink

Make it a coctail party!! You can serve canapes and appetizers so everyone can mingle and enjoy the music -- what I think jass is really about.

Here are some menu ideas (think classy but easy to handle and mingle at the same time):

shrimp coctail served in martini glasses
chicken satays
baby quiches
tempura fried vegetables (green beans, zuccini, broccoli, cauliflour, etc) dipped in spicy plum sauce
mini cheesecakes for dessert
chocolate-dipped strawberries for dessert
